Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
I'm not sure why i didn't raise preflop, or even if I should be in there with A9o. Anyway I hit the flop nice and hard, but that draw bothered me. So i thought that I would smooth call the flop and then raise the turn if a non-heart came. Well the heart came so i didn't raise because 1) don't want to be reraised. 2) don't want to push out 1 pair hands that are overcalling. Is this call all the way line right?

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
I open-raise with this hand, and probably raise the flop with it (though I can see why you didn't).
And given that you didn't, I think calling it down makes sense, for the reasons you described. |

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
I would muck this PF UTG and if i play it i would play it straight forward by raising flop.
Also i don't see much reasons not to raise turn. |

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
I really don't like the UTG limp with A9o. Once I see the flop, I think its usually best to just go ahead and fire away. Turn and river seem fine for the reasons you mention.

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
A9o utg on a full 6 top ... I'll fold most times, raise sometimes, and practically never limp. I guess I can imagine table conditions where I would limp (on Party 1/2 ) but I never see them.
I think I'd go ahead and raise the turn. It's more likely (I think) that someone just picked up a flush draw than that they completed the flush. B. |

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
so i didn't raise because 1) don't want to be reraised
Why? You don't have the odds to draw to a 4 outer, and gave no indication BB would be 3-betting a worse hand here. 2) don't want to push out 1 pair hands that are overcalling. What about single hearts, and more importantly, why are you worried about keeping lesser hands around when you are afraid you can't beat the turn bettor. keeping a weaker hand in is fine when you hand is fairly robust, which I am not sure is the case here. |

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
Preflop I fold
Flop I raise immediately. I raise because I have the best hand and there is a draw there. Long term the draw misses more than it hits. Even when it does hit I sometimes make a boat to beat it. The draw will always call. At the end of my life I will be up. |

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
Preflop in order I like fold, raise and call in that order, fold and raise are closeish (I raise ATo here but not A9o).
I would raise the flop most of the time but waitng for the turn isnt too bad. Even though the draw got there I have no reason to think anyone is on hearts, easy raise. If I'm 3 bet now I just want to get to showdown. |

Re: Planning to raise the turn, and then not.
fold preflop, raise the flop. waiting for the turn to raise is quite bad IMO because initial bettor may not bet the turn at all if indeed he is on the flush draw. also, you will still get coldcalls by any Ace that may be there.
cheers! |
