Key Hand #5: 1-Table SNG, 4 for All- Who makes this play?

down to yet another bubble, i'm in the BB with A K-suited and figure the SB (JMulready13) for an OK hand 4-handed like A 10-suited/A 10o or a King Queenish-type hand. play had been somewhat loose with chips being exchanged back and forth between many players. SB (JMul) was at one time the chipleader with nearly 3000 with 6 or 7 players left but had slipped during the loose play. dono72, definitely a LAG player had been up and down the whole game, both benefitting from the loose play and being hurt by it. chipleader jeannie7 had been playing pretty solid up until this point. going by the texture of the game, the SB did'nt necessarily have to have pps or a big overcard hand to raise. seeing as how this was bubble time, this is an oppurtune time to attack and since i had been laying down alot of my blinds the whole game because of crap hands, a steal with and Ace Tennish-King Queenish hand would definitely be in the realm of possibility. i decided to push. do you make the same move (pushing with A K-suited)? with the 10s, do you call the big reraise all-in? in calling with the 10s, what hand do you put me on if you've observed that i'm a tight-aggressive player?

You can't fold AKs.

You can call.

You can minraise, and look like you are able to get away from it if raised all in (you don't get away from it BTW).

You can push.

I like option number 2, cause you want to make sure AT and KQ come along for the ride, and it really looks like you are trying to get him to laydown. I really just don't like seeing a flop here. Of course, pushing does probably get rid of 66, 77, maybe 88.

Nothing horrible here. AKs is an awesome hand, and the only wrong play is fold, on any street.

If I was the guy with 10's, the only hand I'd be seriously worried about is J's. I can't see a tight-aggressive player pushing in that situation with anything better than Q's.

I would not have pushed pre-flop. I would have reraised to around 600.

I also would not have called your reraise all-in with T's.

I don't push with AKs here, and I don't call with the TT.

I don't push with AKs - because most smart players would lay down most hands as this is bubble time. You are likely to be called by AA, and KK, AK, and QQ. So now there are 4 hands, 1 is a wash, 1 is a coin flip and 2 you are behind.

If he folds, you just took his raise. I would either flat call, or re-raise here to about 500-600. Keep him in the pot, very few flops are going to make a scary board for you here.

the biggest reasons i pushed was based more on playing the player AND what cards i felt he would be aggressive with, moreso than the A Ks hand i was holding. once again, in this SNG, i played solid throughout and any astute observer, IMO, would definitely pumped the breaks if i'm coming over the top all-in for all my chips.

A loose $5 +.50 doesn't have many "astute" observers?

Was your real plan on this hand to take it down pre-flop? If so the push is fine, - but if you were trying to milk him for chips with your AK I still say you played it too strong and just got lucky he called.

For one, I think you overestimated your opponents. After all, this IS a $5.50 tournament. I hardly think your opponents pay attention to you.

Even though you're on the bubble, the blinds are only at 25/50 (Level III and already down to 4? Yikes!). That's far from a typical bubble situation that you'll see in SnGs. You can call to see a flop or re-raise to put him to the test, but pushing in smells like suicide to me. You're only going to get called if you're up against AA or KK (maybe QQ), but anything else you'll be up against a coin-flip at best. Of course, this IS a $5.50 tournament so maybe it's ME that's overestimating your opponents.

Either way, there's no way I make an all-in call with TT with fairly deep stacks on the bubble. Good suckout on the turn/river.
