Default Getting started with Omaha 8

I've been playing 2/4 O8 a bit and kind of like it. I was wondering if you guys could post some appropriate PT stats i could use as guidelines and also some good literature for loose o8 games. Thanks a lot.

It'd be nice if we could but PT doesn't support o/8!

FYI there's over 5700 starting hands in o/8 - imagine how tough that would be to sort out into a display that would allow you to easily analyze hands. If you add in suitedness like 3 suited and 4 suited etc. the total number of hands goes WAY up.

I know Buzz is great with math, perhaps he can give us some exact numbers.

Just do a search for anything Buzz has posted in this forum. His writing is very understandable and he thoroughly covers all the possibilities of a posted hand, including some fairly detailed mathematical analysis.

Ray Zee's book on high/low split games is supposed to be good but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I believe it covers Stud 8 as well as Omaha 8.

Bradley - There are 16,432 distinctly different starting hands in Omaha-8.

(Just as there are 169 distinctly different starting hands in Texas hold 'em).

Is that what you wanted?

Yep.

Of those 16,432 is A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] counted the same as A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or is that 2 of the 16,432 hands?
