Re: Why are most poker players liberal?
[ QUOTE ]
There is more, but i am tired. I'd, lastly, like to just say that you shouldn't try to discourage the liberals from speaking out because that is what an educating discussion is comprised of. I think people often even challenge the right and present the left opinion just for the sake of debate and knowledge rather than political belief." [/ QUOTE ] By no means am I discouraging anyone. I have just begun to notice a lot more Bush bashing from fellow poker players. I am not looking to argue with anyone (done that with many a person about job losses that are actually job gains), but would have thought poker players would be more on the conservative side. Having worked hard to build a bankroll, not wanting to give it away, or have it taxed. Keeping government away from the online activities, etc. |

Re: Why are most poker players liberal?
the post i quoted was referencing a different poster. That comment was not directed at you. I agree with a point you just made, i also think you'll see more bush bashing than real liberals. For me, I'm not against the republican party by any means, but do, however, disagree with bush.

Re: Why are most poker players liberal?
Hi Milwaukee -
Bush bashing does not necessarily mean that one is not conservative. Bush has done, proposed, or allowed many things that piss off small-government conservatives. The spending binge, the patriot act, campaign finance reform, the medicare bill, the constitutional amendment barring gays from practicing freedom of contract, etc. This does not mean that these small-government conservatives think that John Kerry is the answer to their prayers. He's demonstrably worse on many small-government issues than Bush is. But, there is always the chance that the republicans in congress will remember their conservative principles with a democrat in the white house and reverse the spend, spend, police state, spend, spend course of the last four years. Finally, here is an answer to the question, "why do most poker players seem to be liberal?" Because you are a conservative. Good Luck Cepstrum |
