Did the hero get 8-1 on his money up front?

Hero got 16:1 on his money after the 3-bet, but on his initial call he only had 3.5:1

[ QUOTE ]
Why would you attempt a call pre-flop? You have a small pocket pair against a HUGE field, so therefore the only chance you can win is if you flop a set which is rare. (although it happened here)

[/ QUOTE ]

It's call implied odds. Look it up, well, nevermind, you're defining it.

[ QUOTE ]
I really dont know why you would foldon the turn, either.

[/ QUOTE ]

You wouldn't.

[ QUOTE ]
If someone would be willing to explain why a pre-flop call would be good here, or why folding on the turn would be good here, that would be appreciated.

[/ QUOTE ]

See above.

I also do like to think that I have good implied odds if I hit my small set in a hand like this.. and also a very easy hand to get rid of if you don't hit.

Final pot: 42.5BB
Initial investment: 2BB
Hero's total money in the pot: 8BB
Hero's net: 42.5BB - 8BB = 34.5BB
Hero's return on investment: 34.5BB/2BB = 17.25-1

Odds to make your set on the flop ~8-1.

Results in purple below:
SB has 9h 6h (two pair, sevens and sixes).
BB has 9d 8d (two pair, eights and sevens).
Hero has 3h 3d (full house, threes full of sevens).
MP3 has Jc Js (two pair, jacks and sevens).
CO has Qh Qd (two pair, queens and sevens).
Outcome: Hero wins 42.50 BB.

The poster did not provide a table read (tight or loose), which does influence hand selection in middle position.

Would anyone have changed their mind about folding preflop if it had been a tight table?

Not after 2 players limp. At most tables I'll play any pocket pair after 1 limper.

Actually, 8:1 after the 3-bet since he had to call 2 cold.
