Term help
Hey I am very new to this forum and I was wondering what a few of these shortened terms that everyone uses means....
UTG= Under the gun LAG=? BB=? Hero=? what does it mean to win 20.5 BB? and any other short terms would be very helpful. Thanks everyone who helps! |

Re: Term help
LAG - loose (plays too many hands) aggressive (bets/raises lots) See also T (tight, plays few hands), P (passive). Bison's notes thread tells you about most playing styles. VP$IP tells you the % of times a player voluntarily put money in.
BB - big blind (SB - small), or Big Bets (1x big blind) Hero - the player who posts the hand (you see "hero's" cards @ start). 20.5 Big Bets = if yuou play 1/2, that's 20.5x$2 ($41). CO - cut off, 1 place to the right of the dealer button. More terms are found in the abbreviations click button on the left <---- Hope that clears some up! Regards, Pete Harris |

Re: Term help
LAG-> Loose aggressive players.
BB -> Big Blind. Hero-> usually the poster identifying himself in the hand. 20.5 BB 20.5 Big Bets. (At a $.50/$1 Hold Em table $1 is the big bet so we are talking $20.50. If it were a 2/4 table it would be an $82 pot, but still 20.5 BB's) Welcome to the forum, secada |

Re: Term help
Thank you both for your responses. I take it MP= Middle Position etc.
And when people are talking about hands, how come they don't just say the final pot= 650$ rather than saying 20.5 BB? |

[/ QUOTE ] Because in limit all bets you make is in terms of SBs and BBs. Calculations on pot/implied/equity odds is done in SBs and BBs. Also because people play anywhere from .01/.02 to 1/2 on this forum. |

BB - big blind (SB - small), or Big Bets (1x big blind) [/ QUOTE ] Typo. 1 Big Bet = 2xBig Blind. -- in .50/1, the SB is .25, the BB is .50, so a big bet (the bet on the turn/river) is $1. -d |
