What's wrong with being homosexual? Other than morons trying to beat you up or people trying to deny you basic freedoms, I mean.

I'd say that's why some gay people wish they were straight.

Homosexuality is frequently associated with other issues. Drugs, depression, diseases picked up from promiscuity, suicide, you name it. That's why it was listed in the DSM.

Whether you blame the above problems on society or on the mind of the person affected, these are problems frequently had by homosexuals. It just might be worth it to some homosexuals to get away from it all.

AIDs was considered a homosexual disease when it first came out in the late 80s / early 90s, and caused many right wing activists to try and outlaw homosexuality before more research was done.

That's right; drugs, depression, and diseases are picked up from promiscuity but that is not a homosexuality specific problem.

I believe alot of these issues, drug abuse and depression linked to homosexuality are most likely due to the intolerance of many people. If you were constantly told you are an abomination, I imagine it could affect you deeply psychologically.

On a plus note Louisiana State Supreme Court recently ruled that the amendment to ban gay marriages is illegal. But of course, online gambling is illegal in our state. Oh well, I break the speed limit all the time, whats one more law

No, it was in the DSM because our culture didn't understand homosexuality and thought it was a disease.

The Edipus Complex and Phrenology used to be considered valued psychological concepts too. Fortunately, the field and most of our culture has evolved.

No, the heart of it is that some people thing there is something wrong/immoral/evil with being gay/having gay sex, and others don't.
