Key Hand #3: 1 Table on the bubble Q 8o
i'm in the BB (150) with Q 8o with the SB completing (chipleader- who had played pretty solidly up until this point) and one limper (an up and down player). i raise on the flop looking to fold if reraised (which would force me all-in). my thinking was if either the limper or SB had a decent high card hand (including one with a Queen-higher kicker), they would've raised preflop instead of letting me check to the flop. with the coordinated 6 and 5 on the flop, i also intended my raise to force either player with a draw hand to put up or shut up. the 7 on the turn jolts me somewhat, but then again, i have top pair and an 8 giving me two ways to make a straight with a 9 or 4. something about the guy's bet made me think two things: he's either slowplaying something like trip 5s or 6s or he's bluffing with an unmade hand to force me to fold. my call on the river was to look him up after a long pause. that, and if he had the nuts, he would have bet enough to send me all-in. comments.

Re: Key Hand #3: 1 Table on the bubble Q 8o
Villian in this hand is what I call an "LBP"; loose, bad player. You played it exactly as I would have; though I lead out the river if a flop card doesn't pair.
However, I often get hosed by the guy with the turn-made flush draw in this situation, which happens more often than you would think, so maybe doing it this way is wrong. |

Re: Key Hand #3: 1 Table on the bubble Q 8o
yet and still, i was concerned about kicker issues. i've seen low level SNG players limp on the bubble with suited Queen-x hands like Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. i felt i had to look him up all the way with all my chips (if i had to) because i felt his bets were also meant to force me to fold as the shortstack. i've seen alot of players make these kinds of bets all the way to the river with unmade hands thinking the other player(s) will fold.
