Default I know there has to be an answer to this

Hello. The following post will contain random bad beat information, pointed bitching and other non-useful ranting. However, the ultimate point of this will be to generate discussion as to what can be done about the most prominent downfall in all of online poker, especially low limit, Hold-em.

We will limit this discussion to the games on PartyPoker.

Why would ANYONE want to play 7-3 out of position for a raise? Because they're suited?

What can you possibly expect to accomplish calling 4 bets after the flop with nothing more than 3 to a straight or 3 to a flush?

How the hell can you justify playing any hand in the likes of K-6, Queen-7, Jack-3 etc.?

And furthermore, why is this type of play rewarded with such alarming frequency?

These types of hands are winning pots of larger than average size so often, it is not worth raising an unraised pot with Jacks or Queens in position, it will serve no purpose at all. You won't push anyone out and you sure as hell aren't building a pot while you're a favorite. Because you're not a favorite against 6 limpers.

I know all of this is good for the game, and for someone who plays a tight aggressive patient disciplined game they can be very profitable.

But they haven't been. I have burned through well over $1000 in low limit games in a short period of time, playing a style that is very profitable in casinos and home games.

I am not looking to make a living at low limit poker, but to build a bankroll slowly to increase limits and such.

So my question now, what can be done about these idiots catching miracle cards at such a mathmatically improbable rate? How does one deal with the suckouts and bad beats that occur at these low limit games? Should I start playing every suited queen or jack hoping I might catch a flush? And where are all these people getting their money? How do they hold on to it long enough? Why are these the ones being rewarded?

OK I am done I know bad beats happen to everyone and I am not exempt from that. I can live with people improving mediocre hands to beat my slightly better hand. that happens. It's the runner-runner suckouts and shitty hands holding up against monsters on a far too common basis that has me boiling. I just lost a pot that was $112 in a 2-4 limit game. that's 28 big bets (w/ AK offsuit I raised, and yes I had the best hand preflop in a 7 way pot).

So any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Uh, you have a TON of pot equity vs 6 limpers smarty.

This is gonna sound cliche, but go read SSH and learn how poker works, you have no clue.

There is nothing else to discuss here. The retards are NOT being rewarded, it just appears that way to you because you, like them, do not understand the game.

You lost a 28bb pot with AKo!??!!? No way man! That doesn't happen!

Because it is fun.

What can you possibly expect to accomplish calling 4 bets after the flop with nothing more than 3 to a straight or 3 to a flush?

You expect to win.

How the hell can you justify playing any hand in the likes of K-6, Queen-7, Jack-3 etc.?

How can we justify playing poker on the internet when so many children have to wake up in the morning and pick between sewing nikes and starving to death?

And furthermore, why is this type of play rewarded with such alarming frequency?

It's not. You're wrong.

You are not good at poker.

I know all of this is good for the game, and for someone who plays a tight aggressive patient disciplined game they can be very profitable.

You "know" it, but you don't believe it.

But they haven't been. I have burned through well over $1000 in low limit games in a short period of time, playing a style that is very profitable in casinos and home games.

What stakes are you playing? At 2/4 or 3/6, a winning player can expect to lose 1000 dollars at some point in his career. Of course, I don't think you're much of a winning player.

So my question now, what can be done about these idiots catching miracle cards at such a mathmatically improbable rate?

Take up knitting. Math is not your forte.

How does one deal with the suckouts and bad beats that occur at these low limit games?

I tend to play the next hand.

Should I start playing every suited queen or jack hoping I might catch a flush?

Sigh.

And where are all these people getting their money?

From their jobs.

How do they hold on to it long enough?

Many people use bank accounts, though I'm sure some keep the money under their mattresses and simply shove the cash into their disk drives when they need to redeposit.

Why are these the ones being rewarded?

They're not.

OK I am done I know bad beats happen to everyone and I am not exempt from that. I can live with people improving mediocre hands to beat my slightly better hand. that happens. Move down. Learn to play.

If they are calling 4 bets then they must have a good hand. They are showing STRENGTH by calling so many bets.

They did ultimately win the hand, right? Maybe you should have folded when he called.

Ed Miller talks all about this in his book. I suggest you read it. Who the heck would call with a bad hand anyway? That's crazy.

Well, I've been lurking here a short time and posting for only a few days, but I had a strong hunch this poster was going to get lambasted for this post before I even read a single reply.

Now if only I could read hands this well!

Some years ago I kayaked solo down the East Fork of the Carson. Beautiful weather and scenery, magical peaceful night camping alone at the hot spring, and constant play and thrills in the non-stop rapids. Late the second day, I hitched back to my truck and drove into Carson City and ordered a drink in the first casino that advertised poker. I asked the cocktail girl if I could buy her dinner later. She smiled delightedly and accepted with pleasure, warning me that she didn’t finish her shift until 2am. “I’ll be ready”, I promised
I was the big winner in our weekly home game but I had never played holdem. I was excited to try it and since I’d eat with the waitress later, I skipped dinner. I was very physically tired. My arms and back were quite sore from two days paddling. My face was sunburnt and I felt a little lightheaded because of it.
It didn’t occur to me that I could fold before the flop. How could I fold when I had a chance to flop something good? I called every bet and every raise before the flop. I did make a flush one time but some lucky twit had a higher one. I was broke by 11 o’clock. Glum and dizzier and sorer, I gugged coffee and watched the minutes crawl by till 2.
At 2:10 I spotted her, in street clothes and even more beautiful. “Oh”, she says, “I’ve changed my mind”, and walks out.

catching miracle cards at such a mathmatically improbable rate?

Damnit, I did play those hands and yet I neither caught miracle nor suckout-ed nor was rewarded. Maybe the game was rigged. If enough people have played really bad and lost, especially in Carson, we should document it and call for an investigation.
I guess the girl must have been a lesbian, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
