SB is a 2+2er
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP1 with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 2 folds, Hero raises, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls. table alternated between tight and loose. this was unexpectedly loose PF though. Flop: (14 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (7 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls. now how do I protect this? i can't, so I bet. Turn: (10 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB raises, BB calls, Hero calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, Button folds. still have an overpair. did that 2+2er smooth-call with a set? i don't see him drawing towards a QJs or similar hand. yep, he raised. i should have odds to spike a Ten unless I fear a straight, but no one else raised yet. River: (21 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) SB bets, BB calls, Hero calls, MP3 folds, CO calls. sanity call.. -EV though. Final Pot: 25 BB Main Pot: 25 BB, between SB, BB, Hero and CO. Should I check the turn and see what develops? I didn't give myself a chance to get away from my marginal hand. |

Damn, that sure is a lot of people to deal with in this hand, bleh.
I have trouble putting the 2+2er on a hand. Maybe 55-99? That looks like an ugly place to slowplay a flopped set. If it's me and that board, I'm not going to let all 6 people see the turn for 1 sb. If you check the turn, what's your plan? Call one bet? Fold if it's two or more back to you? I don't feel good about it, but I think I play it the same way you do. |

Any decent player checkraising me on this turn makes for a cheap fold (on the turn).
[ QUOTE ] did that 2+2er smooth-call with a set? [/ QUOTE ] If he did I would hate how he played it. |

Wow, you got this hand up in a hurry. I was very surprised that you called the river here. I thought that it was beyond obvious that your overpair was way no good.
The case can also be made for folding the turn here. I think you will be a much better player when you don't have to make that "sanity call". |

Yeah, I don't like my play here. I think I was putting you on 66 prematurely and wanted to see the river. On the river, the one bet, massive pot principle got me.

I was watching this hand over Doughhater's shoulder, and thought he missed a value raise on the flop here. Also, I was surprised btspider called the turn when Doughhater told me btspider knew he played well. What else could Doughhater have here. Any other hand would have had to be horribly misplayed on the flop.

with 4 to a straight on the board and the SB checkraising a field of 6 people on the turn and others cold-calling, it should be blatantly obvious that at least one of your opponents has a 5. even if you were getting the odds to hit a set it would still be no good. while heads up you may never be sure what a turn raise like that could mean, in this situation it should be clear as day. the board is dangerous, there is a checkraise and many cold callers. easy fold on the turn.

I made a marginal call from the sb with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Some people might not like calling with this hand here, and in fact I did have to think about it for a few seconds, but I was looking at a seven way pot with 14 sb in it. It worked out for the best this time.
