When did this all start?
Does anyone know of any reasons that this internet poker/gambling craze started?
Why do so many people play online? Will this hurt the casinos in the future or will it make them more popular since the gambling games will be more known. I would really appreciate it if you could give me your opinions. |

Re: When did this all start?
World Poker Tour.
Party Poker used to have commercials with Mike Sexton promoting the site that would run a few times during each tour. Stars also did some commercials, I remember one with Chris Moneymaker in it. At one point the U.S. government seized $3,000,000 that Party had forwarded to the Travel Channels parent company for future advertising. This pretty much brought an end to the commercials. You may still see Party commercials but they're for partypoker.net which is a "free" site where you can learn how to play. However on Comedy Central last night they had a commercial for www.888.com promoting Pacific Poker. That's a full-fledged gambling site so I don't know what's up with the law. |

Marketing. Why did the VHS win over Beta? Why did everyone get a SoloFlex or a ThighMaster? Why does everyone think I'm a fish?
