Hi Homer -

In my experience it's about 85% ssh. But you do often run into others who are obviously playing straight out of ssh without realizing that you do need to do some hand reading against some opponents. Against these guys, applying just the right concepts from hpfap can be devastating.

Good Luck

Somewhere in between. The thing to do is understand the concepts in both books and learn when to use each.

The Party 3/6 games are not what I would call very loose, but they usually feature 1 or 2 players who play very badly. That is enough to make them profitable.

There are a lot of very loose/aggresive players and don't think either of those books really teaches you how to play against that type.

I think it is SSH because there are so many bad players. Many more than at 15-30, although from what I've seen, 3-6 is a little tighter.

It definitely is in the "tight games" category. My 6900+ hands show an average of 33.59% see the flop, so it is clearly in the "3-5 players on Average to the flop" category, at least in the games that I have played.

Despite the overwhelming opinion I feel that the party 3/6 games are not loose or passive enough to be considered SSH type games and I see HEPFAP concepts applied by a fair amount of 3/6 players.

obviously you want to be well grounded in both. however, i think SSHE rules the majority of party 3/6games. I am usually in the big pot avgs... which is usually b/c of looseness. In tighter games, I would be thinking more HEPFAPishly.

Which better exemplifies the concept of fruit? A pear, or an orange?

HEPFAP, mostly talks about concepts where 2-3 players see the flop. SSH mostly talks about concepts that you use when 3-6 players see the flop. Both of those conditions exist exist at 3-6 on party, but I would guess that the higher condition exists more often.

You may be correct. But I feel the presence of many poor players make it a SSHE call; of course, some tables will not have enough poor players to qualify.

I don't really understand this question, but I voted for SSH, becasue I believe much the games and players described in HPFAP to be rare. However, both books have good poker advice to offer, it is just that SSH makes mor accurate assumptions about todays games.
