Tipping the Floor?

What do you tip the floor for 3 days at a place where you feel you were treated fairly and the floor ran a very good room? I play low-mid limit 10/20 to 20/40.

Personally, I wouldn't tip anything.

Over 3 days they likely took you for at least a couple hundred in rake. I'd call it even.

I would say something though, for sure. Tipping...not really - not unless someone went out of there way for me in particular. For example, I walk up to the floor and get my name on a couple lists and he quietly mentions that he has a few seats open in a game but that I 'might' want to sit at a particular table because he's noticed it's extra juicy. That could warrant a tip.

I take a different view. I tip the floor person a chip of the denomination of the game I am playing when they first get me chips. ie: $5.00 for ten - twenty, $10.00 for $30.00 - $60.00 or $20.00 for $80.00 - $160.00. If I have been playing for a long while and the floorman have a shift change I will find a reason to tip the new floor person. I am not a regular at Las Vegas, S.Cal. for Phoenix which are the places I play mostly, but have found that I am always treated very well and given consideration if I need more time away from the game, holding a seat, or any other non-ruling situation.

Life is not always an EV situation. Spread a little and it will come back to you with interest.

I tried to tip the Floor once at Foxwoods for getting me a room and was told they aren't allowed to accept tips.

This is probably a good thing as the Floors are called in to settle disputes.

In Vegas, the floors don't expect tips, although I'm pretty sure that they would be accepted.

I have actually never seen anyone tip a floor before. Personally, I have considered tipping one floor at a poker room that I play at frequently, but I'm planning to make it like a holiday tip around Christmas time (probably $50 to $100), but that's because this guy is a first class floor and he's been treating me well for a long time.

The floors make decent money. I would recommend saving your floor tip and being a little more generous with the cocktail waitresses and dealers.

I make it a habit to tick the floor $5 once a night at the Commerce if he happens to come by my table. Same thing with chip runners. That might sound weird and unneccesary to a lot of people, but the cost is well worth the return. The fact that I almost always get the first available seat in a game, regardless of how long the wait list is, is worth it right there. Some people might see this as unethical, but I have no problem cutting in line if the establishment specifically asks me to (night clubs is the only other example that pops to mind). Decisions going your way, getting quick table changes, and getting immediate attention are all also plusses.

Get to know your floor at your regular B&M. If you treat them well, i.e. show your appreciation with tips, they'll treat you well.

I agree. I tip floormen and it has helped me getting tables, etc.

this is completely unethical. if this really happens, i would think twice about playing in that casino. having a decision go your way because you tip the floor is nearly the same as bribing the judge to get a lighter sentence. though in your case its not illegal, it probably should be.
