Re: Annie Duke and the TOC
like i wrote in response to you already:
the only arguements youre bringing forth are personal attacks on me and not my post. you assume i fall into the sterotype and so attack that sterotype yet have failed to address a single sentence in my post. if you disagree with my post, tell me where and why. dont just attack my person, when you don't know the first thing about me or who i am. and why are you attacking me anyways? because i have an opinion? i'm not allowed to dislike annie duke? or believe her to be a bad player? who the f are you to tellme what i can or cannot think, and then call me an ass for it. its not like im making fun of any of her physical attributes or her family. |

pls read
im attacking annie's play of poker, and her table manners at the poker table. i havent attacked her person, and i couldnt since i dont know her. if you think annie either 1)is a good poker player. please tellme why. or if you think 2) annie doesn't have bad table manners, tellme why or why my source is not credible. (i would definently understand 2, but for 1, i think ive presented a good case as to why annie doesn't belong at the TOC and why others do.)
pls stop making personal attacks on me, as none of you know me or who i am. |

You wanna shout out from the rooftops that Annie Duke is a bad poker player or that David Hasselhoff is a great actor or whatever, shout it out loud, Dude. Just be prepared if, when someone doesn't feel those opinions are worthy of an intelligent counter argument, to be told "you're an ass." |

Re: Annie Duke and the TOC
WHY AM I AN "ASS" IF I THINK DUKE IS A BAD POKER PLAYER? why would i be an ass if i thought hasselhoff is a good actor? that just doesnt make sense. aren't ass's people who are unreasonable, selfish, or mean etc? how can you say im any of these on the basis that i think annie duke is a bad poker player? and if you disagree with me that she's a bad player, PLEASE TELL ME WHY. don't just start calling me an ass.

Re: Annie Duke and the TOC
"WHY AM I AN "ASS" IF I THINK DUKE IS A BAD POKER PLAYER?"
You're flagrantly ignoring facts that contradict your position, including the fact that Annie Duke beat the players you claim she didn't belong with. |

Re: Annie Duke and the TOC
I really shouldn't waste the bytes on this but since you keep insisting that you want reasons then here we go.
Why Annie Duke instead of Gus Hansen or Barry Greenstein? This is ESPN and their poker shows are World Series of Poker as you may have noticed. Annie won at the WSOP this year, one of the moderately high profile events actually, the Omaha 8 Hi/Lo. You can't expect ESPN to endorse the WPT, a rival brand by picking Gus. I don't remember reading if Barry has won at the WSOP in the last several years in spite of his undoubted prowess. Daniel won the all around this year, Johnny and Doyle have historcal claims to WSOP greatness. ESPN's interest in picking Annie and Howard is partially poker based, partially commercial since ESPN clearly feels that they can sell the Annie/Howard sibling thing. Jennifer is undoubtably a strong player but like Chip she is primarily a cash game specialist but without Chip's sterling pedigree as yet and I'm unaware of her record at the WSOP, I know she couldn't participate for much of it this year. Phil Ivey is there as the young blood but he does have some WSOP bracelets to back it up. Gus hasn't won anything at the WSOP and his cash game record is spotty in this country by most accounts. Gus is getting his chance to shine at Fox's PSI which is more of a pure invitational without the WSOP affiliation. Annie is at least as accomplished as Greg and she has made more final tables at the WSOP than Phill H the last 2 years. Given her profile and success at the WSOP this year, I was far more interested in seeing her than one of the wretched brats from the Crew. Clearly you don't undestand coinflip either, the term coinflip is commonly used when it's overcards vs an underpair and the odds are closer than 45-55, which only some of Annie's situations were, she had domminating hands twice and was a larger than 55-45 favorite on most of the others, especially against Greg who made some foolish calls late with hands there were virtually guaranteed to be behind. Her JJ laydown against Daniel was a slight mistake but a very, very disciplined laydown considering that what Daniel had was likely the weakest of his possible holdings on that board that he'd make that move with. Of course the winner of the tournament caught some cards, did you expect the winner to consistently get bad cards heads up? Phil H. caught his cards when he sucked out against Johnny Chan who played very, very well and was virtually never a dog with serious money at stake. Howard also played sterling poker and just got unlucky at the wrong time. Phil made some nice laydowns heads up but more often than not with good heads up players it's just a matter of cards. He also made some dumb moves like checking bottom pair on the flop and Phil can hardly expect civility from the other players at the table considering his bratty behavior, Annie showing him the 9 and Howard's needling him about catching the straight is simple gamesmanship that Phil tries to do non stop. Did you miss Doyle's put downs of Phil's attempts at drama by hogging the camera all the time? And you are criticizing Annie? Spare us. |
