Default The $100,000 freeroll at Royal Vegas (Biggest tournament ever??)

I have been planning on playing this event for a few weeks now, so today I emailed them to ask roughly how many players they expect to participate... the answer was quite shocking.... 40000-50000 players!!

This has got to be the biggest tournament in the history of poker?!!??

it must have a very quick structure.

maybe something like:

starting stack: 1000
blinds 25-50 and double every 10 min.
That would make the tourney go much quicker...still very long, though.

I hope they pay 1500 places, and go hand-for-hand once it's down to 2000.

I play on royal vegas a lot, and I really doubt that many people will play. I would guess 5000 or less, though who knows. In fact, I find it difficult to believe that they have 40,000 - 50,000 players who play enough to qualify. I don't play in many ring hold'em games there, so I could be dead wrong.

As to the structure, I'm guessing it will be there normal structure, which is pretty fast. They only have 12 min rounds, and for free rolls I think they start you with 1k in chips. I don't think it will take as long as some. I think tourney time goes up as the log of chips in play for any given format (assuming the blinds go up exponentially, which they do in every format I have seen). I would guess the time will be 10 hours or less start to finish.

I was talking about making it past 40,000 players and not "cashing".
