Default AQ, 5 people left

PartyPoker $10 Limit Holdem
Level 5 - Stakes (200/400)

Seat 1 is the button
Total number of players : 5
Seat 8: BB ( $930 )
Seat 4: SB ( $430 )
Seat 9: Hero ( $985 )
Seat 10: UTG+1 ( $1910 )
Seat 1: Button ( $3745 )

Dealt to Hero [ Qd As ]

Question 1:
I've got a low stack, but I might be able to sneak into the money if I play tight. So should I fold, hoping to make it ITM, or raise, trying to steal blinds?

Suppose I raise. Button (big stack) calls and everybody else folds. He seems to be a good player.
Flop is: [ 2h, 2s, 3h ]

Do I bet or check? Then what?

The BB is 400, so if you call that is half your stack, a raise is nearly all in, so it's a push or fold situation.

The blinds are short stacks, and they will either be in the mindset to try and sneak into the money, or make a stand. If one of these stacks double up, your chances of making the money are slim, with the blinds so high.

I would push with AQ preflop.

Beat me to the reply Strip. But I have been meaning to ask you a question, so I figure a slight thread hijack may be ok. Seeing your from Adelaide, I was curious, does Adelaide casino have a poker room these days? Been ages since I have been there.

Cheers,
Granite

Eh? Your minimum raise is 800, are you seriously talking about saving your 185 chips after the flop?

Trying to sneak into the money is a bad idea. You have a great hand. Move in.

the stupid adelaide casino closed its small poker room about 4 years ago - barring drug induced bouts of craps i have boycotted since

does this question mean i can make reference to steve waugh, the crows, or say bag of fruit and you'll know what i'm talking about ?

Yeah I understand all of the references, feeling homesick for Oz. I'm returning in the new year after a year working in Ireland (great beer, awfull weather).

Adelaide is one of the options for places to live, I go where the work is. Poker is a small factor in decision making.

Cheers,
Granite

for those who said to push preflop, this is Limit Holdem. Push isn't an option.

Plays like a push. Raise pre-flop and call/bet the remaining $185 regardless of what flops since you are committed.

All-in.

You're getting the blinds the next two hands. You're going to lose 70% of your remaining stack as is. You're not likely to get two cards better than AQ in that span. Move in now.
