Final table question.
I was in a friendly live tourney this weekend and made it to the final 8, top 6 get paid. I got the small stack (about 5x BB)and on the BB w/ AJo. 5 limp to me, most players are rather week, and sop for a raise is usually 2xBB.
I push, my thinking is that I don't have much time left, worst case I'll get one caller w/ small pair or 2 face cards. And as my stack gets smaller and smaller the all-in move is less and less threatining. Your thoughts? |

Re: Final table question.
why push? You are already getting 5x to take a free look, and you might be behind (perhaps a small pair, big pair slow play, or maybe aq). I say call and push if you hit the flop.

Re: Final table question.
I take the free flop, then I'm in poor position, and I have 5 players drawing to beat me. The group I was playing with didn't like to see big pre-flop bets, I knew most would fold to a big PF bet. So now I'm looking at a heads up coin flip.
Maybe I should have played it more cautiously, and try to wait out the blinds and make it to the top 6. But the cards weren't comming often enough and I hate playing with a short stack. |

Re: Final table question.
I think this is a good situation to push in, or at least, pushing is the best of the options available.

Re: Final table question.
I would definitely push, but that is easily superceded by your reads on players. Would they raise wiht a pocket pair like 7s or AQ, and even after that would they call? You said they were tight, so it would be best to push in myopinion because even if you get a caller you get slightly more than a double up, and probably a coin flip to get well into the money.

Re: Final table question.
Thanks for the replies!
I can't help second guessing myself, just sucks being that close to the money. Turns out 1 called, and had TT, made a set on the turn. I wouldn't have been happy looking at all those 72o and watching the blinds eat me up anyway!! |

Re: Final table question.
I agree, too many in the pot to push - although it is not horrible.
