Default AKs fold on river

I suspect I made a bad decision folding on the river, but I wanted to get some other opinions.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, Hero raises, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (9.50 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (6.75 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls.

River: (9.75 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
MP1 checks, Hero checks, MP3 bets, MP1 calls, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 11.75 BB

So you think both the river bettor AND the river caller have hands worse than AK?

I probably would've checked the turn considering how you are drawing to 4 outs probably if your ace or king aren't reverse dominated.

I'd probably bet the flop and check/fold the turn unimproved. Yes, it's possible you're up against three worse hands (and obviously at least one was worse), but very unlikely no one paired. With only one behind you on the turn you might get a free card, and if not you'll know everyone's opinion of their hand before you have to make any decisions (i.e. if MP3 bets and everyone folds to you you might call him down. Any callers and you're now probably behind).

Check thru on the flop, you got no piece with 3 players behind you on a double suited flop of not your type with no backdoor striaght or flush possibilities. Your overcards outs to the A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] are shaky, triple suiting the board. The pot isn't really big enough to pick a fight.
