I peddle nuts!
Hi all, I am a limit HE player who recently has been playing a little limit Omaha high (.25/.50). The tables are incredibly loose (80% and upwards of a full table to the flop on average) and incredibly juicy.
I have adopted a very tight pre-flop and post-flop strategy. I mainly try to flop the nuts or a draw to the nuts, and then jam the pot. This style has proven VERY profitable in these games over the short term (20-30 hours). Is this weak-tight "nut-peddling" strategy sound, at least until I begin to grasp more of the nuances of omaha versus hold 'em? Also, could somebody please give me some general guidlines for pre-flop strategy in an ultra-loose omaha high full ring game? |

Re: I peddle nuts!
Hi,
I dont play this game much but I think your strategy is dead right if this many people are seeing the flop. You want nut draws and redraws, and be cautious of (temporary) nut hands on the flop with no redraws. If you havent already, have a look at Ed Hutchinson's guide to preflop strategy. HTH, Mark. |

Q8offsuit - On the basis of your description of your game strategy, I would characterize you as a "rock."
Playing like a rock seems like a good, sensible, safe idea while you're learning the game. [ QUOTE ] This style has proven VERY profitable in these games [/ QUOTE ] You can show a profit by playing like a rock at higher limits too. But it's not much of a profit and for me it's no fun at all. However, I'm not putting down your approach, not at all. As you continue playing and observing your opponents, you may gradually discover ways to expand the range of hands you play after the flop. For example, when you see the flop with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], after you get some experience you may not want to always fold to a bet from someone who plays and bets every single hand whether it's the nuts or not after a flop of 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], even though you're not drawing to the nuts yourself. Re: I peddle nuts!
As you move up some of your opponents will be more observant. They will realize that you are a rock and not give you any action. This will reduce your profits.
In the mean time you are staing out of harms way while you learn the game. |
