Default Mis-hearing the dealer

At the Taj last weekend playing 1-2, I bet $45 heads-up on the river. The other player called $25, then pulled his $25 back when the dealer said it was $45, saying he thought the dealer said $25.

His having mis-heard the dealer is completely plausible, but once he's put chips out, shouldn't he be held to calling? I asked, and a quick round of didn't-hear-the-dealer-right later I decided to drop it. I figured pushing it would hold us up a couple hands and not win me any points with the rest of the table.

But if I'd asked for the floor, would I have gotten another $45?

9am to noon on a Saturday, cashed out +$343, not a bad morning even without his $45.
