Mis-hearing the dealer

At the Taj last weekend playing 1-2, I bet $45 heads-up on the river. The other player called $25, then pulled his $25 back when the dealer said it was $45, saying he thought the dealer said $25.

His having mis-heard the dealer is completely plausible, but once he's put chips out, shouldn't he be held to calling? I asked, and a quick round of didn't-hear-the-dealer-right later I decided to drop it. I figured pushing it would hold us up a couple hands and not win me any points with the rest of the table.

But if I'd asked for the floor, would I have gotten another $45?

9am to noon on a Saturday, cashed out +$343, not a bad morning even without his $45.

If it's an honest mistake and doesn't affect action behind him, he should be allowed to get his money back.

if he put out only 25, then he didnt actually complete the bet, it may have been an angle shot to see how you reacted, if not I agree that he should be able to take it back if he ddint hear right

I feel that those chips have been put in play with the intention of calling and are no longer yours to take back.

I do not think they should have to complete the raise if they still wish to fold.

I have seen players take their chips back many times when misunderstanding how much the bet was. In almost all the cases I don't think they were taking a shot.

You'll need to run by what happened with a floorman at the club to find out what their rule is.

A good rule of thumb is if they have put in 80% of the calll they can no longer claim a misunderstanding. If there is a misunderstanding the caller is allowed to reconsider thier actiom.
