$100 PP O8B MTT Final Table Hand, Smart Play or Terrible Mistake?
As you will see below I am shortstacked, really shortstacked. The second shortstack moves in. I have quite a good high hand. My initial gut feeling was to fold and hope that the second shortstack getting eliminated, but then the following thought process occurred: I know that the bigstack involved in the hand will call and that his hand will not be terribly great, I also think that the second shortstack likely has a mediocre hand. With that in mind, I know that there is a very good chance that if I do not call, the second shortstack will have a great chance of doubling up, thus guaranteeing me 7th place. I figure that since the difference between 6th and 7th place is only $50, that it is worth the gamble to triple up if the high hand stands up and have a shot at 3rd or 4th, which would guarantee at least $400 more than 7th place. I am a big new to non-SNG tournament, so I am curious if my rational was decent and how others might have played this hand. Thanks for the input.
