The downswing
For the current year I have played about 75k hands averaging about 2.5bb/100, I also have 30k hands last year with similar results. In the past there were downswings, the worst of which lasted about 2500 hands before I was able to get back to even. The last 4000+ hand though have just been mentally draining. Below are the stats from the last 4000 hands.
I'm not on tilt, but am getting my ass handed to me. I am starting to be more than a little verbally abusive as the streak continues, I wish they had a feature to disble my chat (and yes I realize it is within my power to simply not type it, in this case however I can't seem to restrain myself). Up until this point I have just forged ahead hoping it will turn back around. Someone please tell me this is a normal occurance, things like this happen, its just a bad streak and things will turn back around. I'm starting to lose the desire to play and eventually it will start to affect my aggressiveness. The last 20k hands before this little streak looked this: Thanks in advance. |

Re: The downswing
Raise more pre-flop. Seriously.
You need a break, some study time, and a beer. Take a week off duder, read SSHE, and come back ready to play. |

[/ QUOTE ] These two statements are in direct contradiction. You are on tilt. As far as your play, you're far too passive pre-flop. You need to get your PFR up to 8-9%. Also, you may be folding a few winners as your WTSD% is a bit low. Check the FAQ for more on those numbers. This is still possibly due to variance over your 4k sample, but it's clear from your comments that it is not - it's also due to your poor play. Be honest and introspective and look back at the hands you've played. You'll probably find a poor bet or call here or there - these little poor plays add up. Remember, you only need 3 1-BB mistakes every 100 hands to take a 2.5 BB/100 winner into a 0.5 BB/100 loser. |

Re: The downswing
When did this downswing start, i.e., date, and which site/s do you play?
My interest is sincere. |

weak-tight [/ QUOTE ] also how the [censored] could you only defend your sb 11% or less of the time against steals? after that many hands i would expect anyone who reads 2+2 to do better than that. during that 4k winning stretch at 1/2, you defended like 6% of the time... |

Re: The downswing
Folded 18 of 19 hands to SB steal. hands:
AA,A9o,K7o(3x),K2s,Q6s,Q6o,JTo,J5s,97s,84o,75o,65o ,64o,44,42o,32s,32o A9o - raise came from early position JTo - raise came from player raising 2% of the time 44 - CO raised, a Rock re-raised from Button, no-one else in hand. Which of these hands should I be defending with here? .5-$1 = folded SB to steal 166 out of 200, -.15/hand through 75k $1-$2 = folded SB to steal 34 out of 39 hands, -.19/hand through 7k. |

Re: The downswing
What's your aggression factor?
Also. You were running kinda hot. 56% Won at showdown is a little bit high. |

Re: The downswing
-0.15 bb/hand from the sb through 75k 0.5/1 hands is bad. why didn't you ever look at other peoples' stat posts here? you should have asked about this long ago.

[/ QUOTE ] Hey Miles, I think he might have meant something like this thread in HUSH. They're talking about filtering hands to just those where we're defending. Maybe that's what's meant by the -0.15BB/100. If not, -0.15BB/100 for the SB is indeed pretty bad for a full ring game. |
