FLOP. 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] hero bets $45. villain min raises $90. hero calls. TURN. Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] hero checks. CO bets $125. hero raises $400. villain calls. RIVER. A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] hero???? pot is just over a dime. he has $938 left. |

Re: PP1KNL. FLOP TOP SET. UGLY RIVER SPOT OOP.
This looks like a situation value bet situation. Say $400 minimum bet. If you push, you only going to get called if he beats you, but he may just call $400 with KK, or perhaps AQ. If he pushes, you'll be unhappy with the call, and unhappy with folding.
And I see nothing wrong with your post flop play. I'm also assuming Villian is CO, or you slipped a third person in there. |

Re: PP1KNL. FLOP TOP SET. UGLY RIVER SPOT OOP.
Maybe you can explain what you think you did wrong in your post flop play.
Looks like you tried to maximize profit by playing and betting in such a manner that the villian wouldn't escape without investing more money into that Big Pocket Pair. If you are so sure you are beat by the time the river falls, count that as a blessing that you are able to make a great laydown. Just muck the cards out of turn and mumble something about missing a draw. If you are sure you were beat on the turn when the Q came and you checkraised and got called, then just congradulate yourself for saving your whole stack by not check-raising all in drawing virtually dead. Then check fold the hand. |

bet what you think he may call with his range of hands. maybe 400-600, or you could move in.
if he has a set, oh well, tough luck. |

I like the way you played it post flop.
I am pretty certain he has one of three hands here, AA KK QQ. this may be weak but I check the river with the plan to fold to an all in and call any 1/2 pot sized bet or less. |

Re: PP1KNL. FLOP TOP SET. UGLY RIVER SPOT OOP.
you really dont think hero is good 33% of the time here? i think its really tough to fold this at the river, if he set on you i guess i pay him off, but i dont like checking b/c it lets him check behind with hands you beat and would get a call from.
