Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

Why did you no have no chance of winning? If the flop comes AAK or all of your suit you will stand a damn good chance of winning.

When the flop came, I had virtually no chance of winning. I was...

Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

The amount of times you will hit and win will offset that one extra bet you are putting in.

Good point. Thank you.

Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

What is the point of you posting this hand if you think this then? Keep on playing your perfect poker

Because I realize that I know only a fraction of what I need to know to be a good poker...

Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

For this hand your opponents profited from you. I hope that you do not think you played this perfectly.

Mike, I respect your opinion a lot. I understand the point that in general I should raise...

Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

Pop quiz: when you raise AA preflop, do you want people to call or fold?

If there are 6 people ahead of me? Fold.

Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

Dude. Raise preflop. There is nothing perfect about checking in that spot.... The phrase 'crime against humanity' comes to mind.

Please explain why betting into 6 people that will call is...

Re: Check/fold AKs in the BB

While I don't want to seem results oriented, I think that I played this hand almost perfectly.

Re: More trouble w/AKs

I don't like the raise on the flop.

You still have 4 players to act after you, AND the player that just said he's got a hand.

I can't see you getting everyone to fold here, and you're often...

Re: Me, aggressive? You gotta be kidding

I wouldn't get in the habit of doing this sort of thing at a table though as people may catch on and it could wind up costing you.

I agree. Once or twice in a session should be enough. The extra...

Re: Hand for review

Unless your goal is to lose, this IS a bad play.

I disagree. It is a MARGINAL play at best, but you don't consider the times where your pocket pair will make the straight or when you can...

Re: Raising UTG and folding before the flop

You don't mention your impressions of UTG+1 or MP1.

If you respect both (or either one's) play, it's most likely the correct play.

Re: Party 2/4 hand

Should I have raised here?

I don't think so either. I had no idea who was ahead at that point. And was slightly surprised when you took it down.

Re: Me, aggressive? You gotta be kidding

You raise a limper here so your chance of "stealing" without a flop are next to nil.

Not necessarily. At a tight table, you often can win the pot on the flop too. You're preflop aggression...

Re: Hand for review

Preflop- Although most may not like it, I don't think it's all that bad to play any pocket pair vs a raise, provided you will get paid off when you make your hand.
At 1/2, you most likely will.

Re: Me, aggressive? You gotta be kidding

I dislike the raise there and I'm more aggressive than the next guy. If its suited, have at it, but even then its marginal.

Which raise? The preflop?

My thought process was this... I felt...

Me, aggressive? You gotta be kidding

Re: Results (and proof that 2+2 has improved my game)

But you C/R the flop and then get 3bet by the CO. He seems to like his hand.

FWIW, when he did this, I put him on Axs. He figures he's going to see the river anyway, and the other players aren't...

Re: Did I overplay my hand? KK in the BB

Precisely I shoud have wrote "I don't like your check with the intention to checkraise on this board".

Please explain.

Results (and proof that 2+2 has improved my game)

In the past, I probably would have just checked here. Not any more!

I bet, both folded.

Re: Did I overplay my hand? KK in the BB

As a side note i don't like your flop check on this board.

It wasn't a check, it was a check raise.

Re: Two questions about final tables (WPT and other)

That makes sense, Greg. Thank you.

What about the amount of slowplaying and trapping? It seemed to be worse than usual last night, although I've seen people check turned trips last year too.
