Re: How to handle a Cheater at a Home Game
Also, always use a cut card. It's easy to make one by taping the two jokers face to face. This will make it impossible to deal bottoms, and fixes the problem with the dealer accidently exposing the...

Re: Tense situation - seeking advice
Stew, quite simply, you are wrong. If your game is in fact a friendly one then you don't need to worry about string raises. I understand why this rule is enforced in a casino, and I've seen many...

Re: Tense situation - seeking advice
You need to be able to apply rules to the context of a situation. What basis did you have to declare his hand dead? Was he gaining some kind of advantage by folding prematurely? Of course not, he...

Re: Home Poker and Cops.... Legal Issues here
Here is a blurb from my state:
B. "bet" means a bargain in which the parties agree that, dependent upon chance, even though accompanied by some skill, one stands to win or lose anything of value...

Re: Common color structure?
The only change I'd make is to lose the white and go with blue as the low chip (like MIrage).
Blue 1.00
Red 5.00
Green 25.00
Black 100.00
Purple 500.00
Yellow 1000.00
This is a common...

Trying to rake or have a door fee is going to attract attention and likely get his game shut down, his items confiscated and all kinds of fines and such applied to him.

Re: DON\'T DO IT, IT\'S ILLEGAL!
Listen, just hosting a poker game is illegal in most states. So you rake $20/night and your game gets busted, just how much trouble would you be in for taking money for food and bevs. Be real.

Re: dealing with tilt?
Here's what you need to think about. You raised pre flop, got heads up with a bad player and led out on a flop of K55. I don't think there's anything wong with that. However, when a bad players...

Re: My fault - I sent him...
Ric, go to the Chip "sets". I just bought a 500 set for 120 shipped. The chips alone are a smooth $100, but if you buy a set (includes chips, case, dice) the total is 104. Might as well get a set.

Re: Help me determine denominations
I just bought a set of 500. My breakdown is:
175 Green (.25/25)
175 Black (1.00/100)
100 Purple (5.00/500)
50 Yellow (10.00/1000)
I also plan to add custom labels, and I will likely add...

Fins right. Thats the way I do it, just keep trak of BBs. This simplifies the thought process and makes many decisions more clear.

Tracker, the point is that cheating is stealing. The fact that this isn't implicitly obvious to you is a bit alarming.

This guy sounds like some punk who's watched Rounders a few too many times. Even the rhetoric is the same. What a loser.

No way I make that call. When UTG goes all in, and UTG1 calls, I know my JQ is way behind. I mean, you got the button coming up, and it's likely you're going to lose at least on player in this...
