Overplayed top two pair?
This hand came up in our home game yesterday. I might have a slight tilting problem here due to a couple of bad beats and a new player who was making the game exceptionally slow. It's kinda...

Re: Is this a value bet?
I think you can reraise this hand PF. Button doesn't need much to raise here so you might actually be ahead with KQ.
This hand looks kinda standard to me and when it comes to river, I think you...

Re: 3 x cowboys, out of position, 400NL 6 max
#1: The only made hands I can put villain on are sets and maybe there's a slight possibility of QT. If he has two pair with this board, he's not playing very good poker preflop. His most likely...

Re: Putting it all-in with QQ unimproved??
That turn sure looks nasty, but I think it would be pretty weak to slow down with queens here. Like you said, it looks like a smaller PP something like JJ-77, with jacks and tens being much more...

Re: Micro Hi: 3-flush into 2pair

I have position on him. I would be checking behind Seat 5.

Yes, if seat 1 decides to call, otherwise you're first to act on the river which makes free showdown...

Re: Micro Hi: 3-flush into 2pair
There's one thing I don't like about your raise on 6th and it's your position. It's a good plan to raise now to thin the field if you're going to SD anyway, but I don't see why seat 5 would check...

Re: stud8 3rd street question
Ok, after reflecting on this for awhile I think it really makes sense after all. Thank you for making the effort of putting the numbers in there /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I read somewhere, prolly SS2 or Zee (I think SS2) but Im not sure, that if there are two A doorcards, the probablilty of one of the players having split aces is actually higher than if...

stud8 3rd street question
This hand came up in our home game last friday. It's probably basic stuff but since I'm new to stud8, I decided to post this. I think it looked something like this:
Stud Hi-Lo Split 0,40€/0,80€...

Re: What do you do on the river?
I bet this river every time. The board doesn't look nice but you're facing only one opponent and there are so many worse hands he would call with that you have to risk occassionally paying off two...

Does anyone here play this game? I'm a total beginner and I was thinking if someone could go over the basic stuff like starting hands etc. I would really appreciate it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Preflop situation against 2 maniacs
IMHO, yes you took it too far this time. I mean four players have folded and even though you're facing random hands this really isn't the ideal spot to play this hand. It's true that you're looking...

Re: My opponent\'s bluffing frequency
I think you misunderstood that part of my post. It's true that I might occassionally fold two pair on the river if that's what you mean by "a tough laydown". But in the example where I had a straight...

Re: My opponent\'s bluffing frequency
You're right, perhaps I should concentrate on improving my reading skills but I found an interesting section on game theory in TOP. Sklansky suggests using cards to randomize your bluffing frequency....

My opponent\'s bluffing frequency
I play in a 0.40/0.80€ home game (which is similar to 0.50/1 in U.S. dollars). Most of my opponents are typical low limit LPs but it seems that during the last few months some of them have improved...

Re: Strange (to me) advice in HEFAP

The answer is, it depends. I play in live cash games, and I've found that these hands don't do well with 5 or 6 other players involved. If its short-handed its an entirely different...

My thinking is quite similar when it comes to losing streaks. Every time I make a play that has +EV but ends up horribly I tell myself "I made the right decision and the outcome doesn't mean a thing...

Re: Did I lick my sack on this play?
I check-raise the flop and bet the turn. If he's still in I strongly consider folding the river if he bets. I also fold this preflop. The flush possibility is pretty useless against two opponents and...

Re: straight draws in Omaha Hi
Yeah it's true that straight draws are trouble hands in Omaha Hi. I definitely agree that a mere straight draw needs good odds to continue. I think your estimate of 7 to 1 is close but you don't...

What do you people think he has? I'm going for pocket kings or queens. Rolled up tens is also a possibility, but it is a very unlikely one. His aggressive play on early streets indicates a very...
