Re: 99 - fancy fold or correct play?

Ok thanks for the insults; too bad very little explanation was used to back them up. Given his numbers, we can assign villain the standard:

AA - 6
KK - 6
QQ - 6
JJ - 6
TT (questionable) - 6...

99 - fancy fold or correct play?

Is this a good fold in the long run? I feel it is, yet think many will advocate calling here, and possibly capping. Anyway, explain your thoughts as to why calling, folding or raising is better here....

Re: I fold the 29th nuts

Pretty straightforward turn fold in my opinion. A somewhat passive player raising a near drawless board generally indicates at least top pair. Also factor in the small pot and the bad reverse implied...

Re: Waiting for the turn to raise - standard?

Very easy preflop fold. Anyway, I'd raise the flop because its likely bettor is leading with a draw and thus you have no guarantee he'll follow through and bet the turn.

Re: TT - Big pot - Double paired board

[ QUOTE ]
On the river, at the time of the hand, I froze up a bit and checked.

But after thinking about it, I think his hand distribution is something like this:
hands that I beat and will call...

Re: JJ - Good laydown?

And here I was thinking I made a text book laydown /images/graemlins/grin.gif
I still believe folding is fairly superior to raising here, and will explain in detail when I have the time. I think...

JJ - Good laydown?

Read
Villain is 12.5/9/3 after 160 hands, I've also noticed villain play tricky in a couple of hands - i.e. check-raising and folding the flop to a 3-bet.

Re: Weak play from the BB

This is a fine fold in my opinion.

-The pot is small

-You only have bottom pair.

-You have to deal with reverse implied odds when you check-raise here.

I'd try to avoid getting fancy...

Re: Pocket jacks in SB

Folding this river is quite a big error in my opinion, you only have to be good here 1/13. I think it's impossible to conclude that villain isn't bluffing or raising two pair at least ~7% of the...

Re: A9 - flop 3-bet or turn raise?

Thanks for the replies. I agree the preflop call was very thin. Not a call I usually make, but there was an ultra loose/weak player about to go all in and I wanted to be there when it happened....

A9 - flop 3-bet or turn raise?

I'm little torn between the best line here. Should I 3-bet the flop or wait for the turn to raise a brick; or take a completely different line altogether?

Re: Another KJ for TP - can I overcall with it?

This hasn't been mentioned yet, so I thought I'd add it. In my view, if you plan on folding this hand you can't be calling the turn bet. When we are behind, we assign villain the following:

AK – 8...

Re: Should I be playing missed hands like this?

I've always liked how you explain in detail the way you think, it's very WD-esque... but you are overthinking here.

You have the best hand extremely often and you must bet in order to...

Re: Should I be playing missed hands like this?

I don`t agree. I think it is essential for you to bet here as it is very hard for hands that do not include a k or FD to call.
You also want to buy the button.

Re: Should I be playing missed hands like this?

I've been thinking about this sort of play a bit lately. I actually thinking betting out here achieves very little and checking is probably superior. The bet is essentially a semi-bluff, though the...

Re: Easy flop fold?

Thanks for the responses guys. I think this hand differentiates a bit from the SSHE example (reverse implied odds one) in that I have a backdoor draw and the pot is larger. Though, with several...

Easy flop fold?

At the time I thought this was a pretty rountine fold, but the size of the pot got me thinking whether it's worth taking a shot at. Only played a few hands on the table so no reads. Thoughts?

Re: Need a better line with AQ

I think the flop check-raise is necessary here despite the likelihood we are WA/WB. While we are never knocking out any sort of flush draw, it is paramount we face weaker draws with the prospect of...

AA - turn play?

Hey guys,

This hand had me kinda preplexed. What is the best line on the turn? Feel free to comment on the flop as well.

Villain is a TAG but seems passive preflop: 12/5.6/3...

Re: pre flop strategy: are there any leaks?

The type of table should dictate what hands you play foremost. It's highly important to deviate from starting hand charts to cater for the specific game conditions. Working on this will improve your...

Re: Some questions with QJo

I thought I'd add my take on the odds on a river call. I personally feel it's an oversight to say we're getting ~9:1 on a river call here. I would routinely assess my effective odds on the turn in...

Re: Bet the river with 44?

I personally feel you should have given this up immediately on the turn, because:

1. The pot is tiny

2. The flop isn't coordinated, meaning villain will generally have at least a pair.

I would fold this to the turn raise. Here's my reasons:

-Reverse implied odds. I think reverse implied odds are an important consideration here as you stand to win the minimum when you are ahead,...
