Re: The great phrase \"Nice Catch\"
I generally launch into some kind of sarcastic tirade about how I didn't realize I was playing against Phil Ivey and Barry Greenstein under assumed names and such (especially since we are at the...

Re: The Hand -- An Ace-Queen Problem Part I
consideration #4 contradicts #2 and #3. if he's just raising on principle then you probably have the best hand.
I am not communicating very well, I am afraid.
The combination of possibly being...

Re: The Hand -- An Ace-Queen Problem Part I
There were two larger stacks than mine involved in the hand.
Villian had around T4000 (plus his rebuy ticket) and another player on the far end of the table had around T3300 (with no rebuy ticket)...

The Hand -- An Ace-Queen Problem Part I
Harrah's has a Friday morning single re-buy tournament (with a waitlist for alternates that turns it into a multi-rebuy structure of sorts). By the way, they also have a great overall physical setup...

Re: Too Much All In Again?
It's an easy push to me too, but then I am not doing too well in multi-table format (I am a terror at the sit n go format).
In the longer tournament formats I fear I may be taking too many "easy...

Sunday NL Tournament at the Normandie. If you have played it, you know the field is not extremely tough but there are some decent players in it.
Villian is big stack having just taken out 3-4...

Re: Hello! Critique my play..Hmmm...
I would check call the river, as I see many more hands that beat me than hands that would call a bet and lose.
But these good two pair hands in stud are very close either way.
Even though I am...

OK -- I apologize for intruding on your little enclave.
Your attitude will not stop me from asking questions and seeking information.
And it might give you high blood pressure or heart disease.

Re: All in before the flop. Didn\'t need to be.
Do you see the distinction between calling All-In with a heavy favorite, and intiating a confrontation against a larger stack with a heavy favorite?
Has that been discussed, and do you feel it is...

Re: All in before the flop. Didn\'t need to be.
Sklansky gives a classic (although contrived) example where folding AA pre-flop is correct: You are at WSOP final table with several opponents with equal stacks of 20x your stack. All of a sudden...

I have a suggestion . . . if you find the discussion so boring, click ignore this thread.
I am actually not afraid enough of going in. I am going in a lot, stealing a lot, and busting out as the...

Re: All in before the flop. Didn\'t need to be.
Well just as AA is a huge favorite against everything else but doesn't ALWAYS win, I had expectations that the thread would spark some sensible discussion, but I knew that there would be reflex...

Re: All in before the flop. Didn\'t need to be.
For some reason, I am happier calling the all in with AA or KK and busting, than pushing with these hands and busting.
That is not to make any theoretical point, but merely to confess an intuitive...

suppose we get to a flop? where I see a coordinated board. Then I can get away and still be in the tournament. The question has to do with the value of doubling up (or stealing the limp bets)...

Re: All in before the flop. Didn\'t need to be.
See below. I would call, yes.
Just another bad beat story disguised as theory, I guess.
I still wonder whether I am pushing too often, even with an edge. Obviously AA is a bad example, but AT...

I am not offended. Of course I have a lot to learn.
And so, I wager, do you.

Re: All in before the flop. Didn\'t need to be.
I realize that I got all in with a huge edge. And maybe I didn't give enough information. I mean even going all in with AA you figure to lose 1 in 5 or 1 in 6 hands, at least. And since the all-in...
