Some more ideas. I like the blue with white and light blue.
The green with Light green an pink. See the changes made to the other chips. Just some ideas.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not really a fan of the yellow on the gray, the blue on the red, or the green on the purple. I like the yellow w/ orange and purple though. What I would really like to do is use 4 half-moons, alternating purple and orange, on the yellow, but I am waiting to hear from Dennis on that one.

Re: Double Wide Edge Spots

By washout I meant that it would be hard to tell that you're even looking at a multi spot unless you were looking closely. There was some other chip that I only saw online (so it may be color issues w/ monitor / scan or both) that looked like a single-white stripe because the orange stripe and the red in the chip had about the same saturation / color level and are somewhat close in hue...

I think that most people like it and I don't dislike it. Just wondering if it will even look very multi or not.

See the $5 and $500 below.

I have samples of both colors here with me, and they seem different enough so that it wouldn't work out. I wonder if maybe you're referring to the Modern Clay $5 chip - it is red w/ dark-red/orange edge spots, and the dark red is definitely hard to pick up...

Yeah, that's the orange chip I have - in reality, that's not even close to the real orange - my mockup is actually much closer...

Re: Double Wide Edge Spots

I think that chip had been the one to give me concerns. Thanks. Red looks good to me!

I just called and ordered some more samples from Dennis.

At least my pals will have some things to look at if they upgrade from their Xmas sets (dice). When I'd been talking about a custom order, they had originally thought that I'd be trying to recruit them for it. I don't see them springing for these sets but someone might get lit up by the look / feel once they see some nice samples.

I'm realizing that even for a cheapie tourney set for a local non-profit should have edge-spots for ease in counting smalling stacks just sitting on the table by eye. So much for plain diamond...

Re: Double Wide Edge Spots

Looks very good to me.

Potentially bad idea (brainstorming)
It might be nice to alter the stock inlay just a small bit - removing the . after Las Vegas or Nevada would not change the look of the chip and would provide a minor custom detail on the inlay No big deal for their artist to do that and not likely to result in an art charge (TR King doesn't really nickle/dime you on art) Maybe a bad idea though because none of 'our' chips would use the same colors as stock... so even if we banged out a very small number of $5k chips, we'd probably have red 1/8" inserts instead of the stock gray on that turquiose chip...

Thanks for the hard work Ray.

Anyone else like the dark blue instead of the red on the gray chip? I do.

The $5 seems to be the biggest discrepancy amongst everyone...

Wow Ray, great looking chips.
I personally think the purple chip looked a ton better with the white and orange edge spots. If you did that you would probably need to change the red to orange and yellow just to be different.

Excellent job SlowPlayRay and nice turn around for mock-ups!

I'm not in the market but here are my thoughts...

I really like the $1, $25, $500 & $1000 chip colors.

I think the non-denom gray looks good but I'm just not crazy about grey... would probably prefer an orange, pink or another color besides grey... but they grey does look good.

I think the $100 is only ok... not sure what to suggest here though a red as one might look good.

The $5 might look better with yellow instead of the white.

By the way, everyone check here (2nd post) for some great pics of some actual custom T.R. Kings; this should help us get a feel for what some of the colors really look like:

Hoefler's Custom T.R. Kings

These are the chips that made me want T.R. Kings - I actually have a sample of his $1 chip.

Okay, here are my current favorites for all the chips. The only one I am not sure if I like is the Yellow, but to be honest, I will probably only get a couple of these anyway, so if anyone wants different colors, let me know. But I think these chips look good together AS A SET:

Re: Custom King\'s Crown Group Buy

They look great (not a potential purchaser, just an interested observer). The red, green, and black are especially cool. Like you, the only one that I'm uncomfortable with is the yellow. There must be more complimentary colours for the edge spots?

Have you decided to drop the denominations entirely then, or are you just leaving them off these mockups?

Also: wouldn't it be sort of casino-authentic to have no edge spots at all on the grey 25c chip? As a non-buyer I have no right to throw in such suggestions, I know, but I'm curious as to what you chip-aesthetes think about this on principle.

I think the plan is:

non-denom - yellow
$1 blue
$10 red
etc.

I do think that if there's going to be a non-denom chip, there should be one with no stripes or regular thin stripes to be used on the bottom end (.25 or .50). Does he make regular King's Crown .25 or .50 chips? Maybe we could just use those on the low end.

I think the 2 edge spots should have more contrast. I like the black and white edge spots for the 5.

I've seen the $5 yellow Crystal Park Casino chip with the Black and Grey edge spots.

As for the non-denom $1000 chip, how about a orange chip with yellow and purple edge spots?

I think that is BROWN and BLACK not MAROON and BLACK.

But I could be way off since I'm only looking at the monitor and not a text description.

TR KING's colors:
Red
Dark Blue
Yellow
Green
Lavender
Light Blue
Dark Brown
Orange
Black
White
Pink
Purple
Gray
Tan
Off White
Gold
Light Gold
Turquoise
Light Turquoise
Light Green

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not very good with color (nor color theory).

I'd look here to get a start on the basic idea at this site talking about various harmonies:http://www.wwwearables.com/techniques/color_harmony.htm

If you look at the wheel, you'll see things like PURPLE/YELLOW across from one another (complimentary) Ravens/Vikings. Or saturation... BLACK-X-WHITE or GRAY-X-WHITE. (e.g. EAGLES BLACK-GREEN-WHITE and GRAY-GREEN-WHITE or GREEN-WHITE; FLYERS BLACK-ORANGE-WHITE)

Anyhow, applying it to the yellow w/ purple/orange
http://img30.exs.cx/img30/2123/yellow21mv.jpg

Makes me guess that a split-complementary
(one hue plus two colors on eitherside of its complement) in this case would be: yellow purple/red or yellow purple/blue

Also yellow w/ purple/magenta

Also yellow w/ orange/turq

http://img22.exs.cx/img22/6577/colorsforyellow5ql.jpg

Looking at the image above, our chip seems to draw from the color harmony on the lower left. Which I guess is what it doesn't hurt my eyes but I don't particularly like the purple/orange...

I haven't taken a minute to look at some of these combos in light of the other colors already being used in the set.

I imagine that some reader could explain this better since this isn't really my field at all.

Dennis told me "we can do anything - it's just a matter of price" - I suspect something like that, or any variation of edge-spot style will drive up the price. I am still awaiting his response to my lengthy email.
