Default The end is coming...

I realize many here could care less what the Bible says but if you believe in it at all this new development is extremely disturbing...

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=39114

Excerpts from the artice, the first being from the King James version and the latter this new "whimsical" translation:

1 Corinthians 7:1-2

KJV: "Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

New: "Some of you think the best way to cope with sex is for men and women to keep right away from each other. That is more likely to lead to sexual offences. My advice is for everyone to have a regular partner."

1 Corinthians 7:8-7

KJV: "I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn."

New: "If you know you have strong needs, get yourself a partner. Better than being frustrated."

Mark 1:4

Authorized version: "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins."

New: "John, nicknamed 'The Dipper,' was 'The Voice.' He was in the desert, inviting people to be dipped, to show they were determined to change their ways and wanted to be forgiven."

This is a blatant re-write of Biblical passages for the purpose of justifying todays "Alternative lifestyles". Now from a Libertarian perspective, I could care less what people choose to do. But one must choose to either accept the Bible, or dismiss it as legend and myth. Choose as you will. But the twisting of the written word to satisfy today's social mores is frankly sickening.

I wouldn't get to hot under the coller about it, The KJV was written with an agenda too.

Here's a newsflash:

The bible wasn't written by God.

It was written my men with their own prejudices and priorities. It may have been inspired by God, but men have a way of distorting the message. This new bible is no different.

The original version of the Bible wasn't in english. I'm sure the King James version has many questionably translated passages as well.

Why do you think the Bible was written originally?

I don't care much about what the Bible says, but I care even less about what the World Net Daily says.

Nah. Not disturbing. Amusing though what people get so worked up about.

"[It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication . . ."

I don't get the "neverthless." Shouldn't the correct word be "therefore"?

Every word in the bible is absolutely and unequivocally true, it is only the punctuation that is in doubt.

PS. And what's this 'The end is coming...' teaser title you so pointlessly slapped on the marquee? I was hoping for some article about the earth on tilt or too much dark matter foaming about interstellar space leading to an almost immediate implosion of the universe, or some other Good News; instead what do I find - Bible verses. Truly disappointing.

Are you sure those are my only choices? And who put you in charge of my choices?

Thomas Jefferson used to write in the margins of his Bible, and tore out the passages he didn't like. Deal with it.

This isn't bad advice from a public health perspective. It would certainly cut down on STD's, AIDS and unwanted pregnancies.

I think the KJ version admonishes against masturbation as well. The new one will certainly promote it, as frequent masturbation helps prevent prostate cancer...
