Default video cards

I have determined that an uneducated person such as myself could spend days figuring out a decent buy for one of these and apparently I suck at it. I'm looking for a $300-$350 card. I was -><- close to buying a geforce 6800 "vanilla" but I was unable to determine whether or not its AGP or PCI. Anyone have any suggestions?

Depends on what you need it for. If you play first person shooter games you'll need a really good one but if all you need it for is poker then you don't need a good one. Just make sure it has dual monitor support if you use two monitors. I like ATI's but it doesn't really matter. Something like a Radeon 9800 would be fine for poker.

I don't mean to be a prick but I clearly stated that my price range was $300-$350. I would like the best card I can get for that money. From what I can see the 9800 pro is in the $220 range.

Sometimes the most expensive isn't the best card. Again it depends on what you are going to do. If you are going to edit movies on your computer then you do want to look for something extraordinary. But if it's for computer games and such, then the $220 Radeon 9800 will be more than you can use.

I don't know much about video cards but I do know that your statement is 100% false.

You're asking this question and you've been here for a year and a half?
