Folding 2 Overcards
On page 230 for HPFAP, bottom of second to last paragraph, sklansky says:
"Therefore, when your hand is barely worth a call in a heads-up situation, such as when you hold two overcards and are trying to catch a bluff, it is not worth a call when someone else has called ahead of you." I've actually folded Big slick in No-Limit games against crazies. Call me crazy, but when it costs 30 cents to see the flop and $2-4 to see the Turn I'm going to fold if it doesn't hit. But I was wondering what are the pot odd that I need to see the Turn and the River? My Math: 52(deck)-2(hand) -3(flop) = 47 cards left 6 outs 6/47=12.8% to hit on turn requires 7.8:1 pot odds to stay for turn when at flop. 6/46=13% to hit on river 7.7:1 pot odds to stay for river when at turn. Is this correct? Also with a total chance of getting an overpair at 25.8% should you use this to change the amount of money you need to see to stay? |

[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ] No, it's 1/7.8 and 1/7.7 or 6.8:1 and 6.7:1. [ QUOTE ] Also with a total chance of getting an overpair at 25.8% should you use this to change the amount of money you need to see to stay? [/ QUOTE ] You can't just add these, since it double counts the chance of hitting on both cards. 6/47 + 6/47 - 6/47 * 5/46 = 25.5% - 1.4% = 24.1%. Or 1 - 41/47 * 40/46 = 24.1%. |
