Default Bubble play..laying down the best hand?

Given the stack sizes, I was thinking about laying down AK (???) just to not mess with the big stack, and on the assumption that the small stack would bust out very soon. Would you ever lay down the best hand?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed)

UTG (t1785)
Button (t305)
SB (t3610)
Hero (t2300)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls t200, Button folds, SB raises to t800, Hero calls t600, UTG calls t600.

Flop: (t2400) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB bets t1000, Hero raises to t1500 (All-In), UTG folds, SB calls t500.

Turn: (t5400) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t5400) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t5400

Results in white below:
SB shows Ts Ac (two pair, aces and tens).
Hero shows Kc Ah (two pair, aces and sixes).
Outcome: SB wins t5400.

Default Re: Bubble play..laying down the best hand?

The fact is, you got beat by a hand you were better than, til he caught his 10.

But the more relevent fact is, while I'd tangle a bit with someone who can take me out in this situation, I'd also fold to as much aggression as he showed. The game totally changes once in the money. Take your 1500 chips, watch the 300 stack bust out, then go wild. Until then, I'm not sure I would have come over the top (When you know he'll call the extra 500) after he bet 1000.

Then again, all in retrospect.
