Las Vegas Advice

Hey folks. I am going to Vegas this Sunday for a week (woo hoo!), and want to play some NL. I normally play the $100 buy in 1/2 blinds on Party Poker, and do great. I have played the 5/5 no max buy in at Foxwoods, and felt just a little over my head (I don't want to bet $1000 on a hand). But I play fine in live games, so that's not the advice I am looking for, really, it's casino/game selection.

So, I am looking for some advice on which casinos to hit, I don't want to buy in for more then $500 if I can help it, so blinds of $5/$5 or less would be great, and I actually like the idea of a max buy in. Is there a casino that comps well too? And of course, I am looking for that soft game [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I will be staying at Paris as well. Any advice would be appreciated!

I just got back from Vegas. Sounds like the Bellagio, 2-4, $200 max buy-in game is for you. I didn't play in the game, but I watched my friend play in it for awhile. She had never played NL in a casino and hadn't played any limit greater than 4-8, and she was up $200 after about 8 hrs... Also Bellagio has the best frozen drinks; try the strawberry Julius.

Palms has a 2-5. I don't know if it's a max buy-in. The room is small and smoky. Golden Nugget downtown has a 2-5, $300 min buy-in in a nice, non-smoking room. It was playing larger than a typical 2-5 ($50 commonly to come in) when I sat in it for an hour or so, but the game was very soft.

I normally play limit at the palms. I sat in the no-limit the other day for the first time while waiting for 6/12. First hand, first no-limit game ever and I flop Q high flush with the king on the board. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Anyway, the max buy-in is $500 unless Moneymaker and Affleck come in, which they have several times in the last few days. It's a real pain being told by security that you can't stand around in the card room you spend 40+ hours/week in because some celebrity is there... I was also directed toward either the Luxor or Mandalay bay for a $100 max buy-in game. Wish I could remember which.

Sahara: Ran a $1-$2 blind game while I was there. No max buyin and the floorman played (terribly) in it. Good game, but the players seemed so afraid to commit their stacks that you couldn't make too much off it.

I know that I might be too late for the person this was intended for.. just saw the thread (been keeping too much track of the WSOP--Whoohoo Fossilman!)

Anyway, I agree with the recommendations for Binion's. I've played both the 1/2 and the 2/5.

2/5 is tighter, as described, depending on who's at the table. Normally there's no limping. Last time I played (about a week ago) there was a ton of limping. Usually no one has more than 500 on the table--usually! Last time, another exception, as a couple people had around a grand at least.

1/2 game might as well be a Party Poker game, from the way I've heard some people descibe it (played Party twice). Lots of limping, weak raising, multi-player hands. Most buyin for the min of 100. Hardly see anyone with more than 2-300 ('cept the one time Ann Fisher sat down and bought in for 500..then preceded to crack my set that I thought I cleverly check-raised all-in..she called and flushed [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] but that's another story, lol).
