Question for those who know Vegas

I'm 27 and coming to vegas sometime in the next 4-6 weeks and i'm wondering the best place to stay. Here are some of the things I want to consider.
I'll be playing 3-5 hours of poker a day 15-30 through 80-160.
Nice pool area and younger crowd.
good restaurants (although I know they don't have to be in your hotel).
Nice rooms and upscale seeming.

Bellagio would be nice because that's where the poker is and it's supposed to be very luxurious but I get the impression that the crowd is a little older. I've heard that the hard rock and palm have the younger crowd/ nice pools but they are a little out of the way and not quite as nice (i've been told). I've also heard that mandalay bay has a young crowd, good pools, and is a really nice hotel. any tips or suggestions? Assume that price doesn't matter.

I would suggest Hard Rock or Mandaly in your case. Hard Rock is very nice (not fancy nice like the Bellagio, it more modern), and theres plenty of young women around the beach/pool. Check the dates, there might even be a good show there during your stay. Theres even a strip club across the street if your'e running bad. Its a great scene, but no poker. You can be at the Bellagio in two minutes.

Mandaly is also very nice and a great pool and lots of young people. Its a got a good poker room and some daily tournaments. You can walk through the underground tunnel to the Luxor and they have some small tourneys too. There are a lot of great restaurants right inside Mandaly as well. The only drawback is that it's all the way at the south end of the strip.

If money is no object and you can get a room, there is no question that any guy 18-30 cant get laid at the palms must not be trying.

What are you planning on doing when your not playing poker? If you want the club and lounge theme of las vegas loook no further. Ghost Bar is great and I think if you havent been to Rain then you have never seen the best of vegas.

I'm heading to vegas in july with a couple of guys where staying at the flamingo they also have a great pool(5 of them) and margaritaville there plus perfect location.

Truthfully dont worry about distance cause nothing really is to far. Its not like traveling from manhattan to long island.

Bellagio, Venetian (Hard Rock's restaurants are pretty so-so compared to other upscale casinos w/ the exception of Nobu, which is excellent - note that Nobu is not casino-owned and thus you can't get comped there)

Palms overall doesn't feel as upscale as the others.

It is, but the Bellagio still has a ton of really beautiful young women.

If I were you I'd go with Hard Rock or Bellagio. If you're more focused on partying/chicks, Hard Rock. If you're more focused on convenience/being lazy, Bellagio. It's always great to stay where you're going to do most of your gambling.

The sports guy's latest article talks about the casino host sending them to Nobu. I was under the assumption it was comped but could be wrong. I don't think it would be that much of a treat to just let them in if they had to pay for themselves.

Well, anything can be comped, right? They can send you hookers and pay for them. Or pay for your airfare. Or just give you cash back. Or send you to shows and fights at other casinos. When you gamble really big or are a celebrity, anything is available. That may well have been the case w/ an ESPN or Jimmy Kimmel or whatever group (I haven't read the column).

What I'm talking about is the standard casino comp. You gamble and earn comp points which can be used towards room charges, restaurant charges, gift shop charges, etc. At the Hard Rock, Nobu doesn't fall into that category.

Ah, the Hard Rock. Stayed there a couple of years back with five of my buddies. Racked up a $2200 bar tab at the pool over the course of three days. Good times, good times.

Hard Rock so not worth $399 a night on weekends for that price i rather stay at THE HOTEL at mandalay bay its all suites.

A very young crowd at NYNY especially on weekends at there Irish Pub.
