LV Question
Ok, so I'm going to Vegas in May, but I likely will be bringing the GF along.
Since I've always gone to Vegas with a bunch of guys and just shared a room wherever we could get one for cheap, I have no idea where to stay. I would like: Somewhere close to the Belagio or Mirage; Somewhere that has a good spa + Pool for the GF; Somewhere that will not destroy my bankroll. Suggestions? Any places have good poker rates? -Diplomat |

Ok, so I'm going to Vegas in May, but I likely will be bringing the GF along. [/ QUOTE ] How about the Mirage itself? You can get a poker room rate, the Mirage pool does well in surveys and there is a spa. Monte Carlo may be cheaper and that pool page above also gives it high marks. Have fun. Please share the numbers when you book and how your SO enjoyed the amenities where you stayed. This question comes up far more often than people posting results for future guidance. |

Re: LV Question
Here is another couple of pages that may help you:
Vegas.com's list of spas with accurate pricing compared to hotel sites, but no chart comparing all vegas.com's pool pages with info, but no "ranking" offered Vegas.com makes money through bookings ans so on, so do not expect critical information or reviews |

Re: LV Question
Problem with poker rates is you won't be able to put in the hours to qualify if you're playing in the main event. I stayed at the monte carlo, the rooms are normal, the pool was decent although it was cold when I was there and the location is decent. Oddly, if you don't care about staying where you play, you might want to check out Caesar's Palace. It can be expensive at times but wasn't bad when I stayed there a while back and was the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. I hear good things about the Rio also but its off the strip. Since you'll likely have a car anyway to get to/from binions that might not be an issue but if you plan on drinking and playing cards, maybe strip is better.

Re: LV Question
Most likely I'll be cabbing it to and from Binions, I'd hate to think about having to deal with a car because I opted for 1 too many beers. I guess I'll have to see what party offers me before I make any decisions anyway.

Re: LV Question
Thanks for the links Steve. I'll let the GF vote on which pool looks best.

Re: LV Question
Monte Carlo is a nice place right in the area you are looking for. It usually has good deals and has a nice spa. Check their website. NYNY and MGM are fairly close too and sometimes offer good deals. Again check their website or go to vegas4visitors.com and they have links for all the strip hotels. Monte Carlo is a hidden gem with a poker room and I highly recommend it!

Re: LV Question
Try a search for the thread "Vegas help! Taking the wife..."
It was posted in this forum a couple weeks ago I think, you'll probably find some helpful info there. And please do post anything you liked/she liked about the trip. |

Re: LV Question
If you plan on playing alot, the Mirage usually offers poker rates of $79 (Sun - Thurs) and $129 (Fri/Sat) for 6hrs play/day/room. If you call during the day and ask for the poker room, they can give you the details and set you up. Bellagio offers a similar deal for $129 weekdays and $199 weekends.
