I won't pretend that I played well last night, but here's a really stupid example. It's the hand that Simon knocked me out 17th.

Ok, so what's so stupid? I just got beat, right?

Absolutely not. I beat myself. On the turn, I had AA22 and in all probability had the best hand at the table. There was T330 in the pot. I put in a chickens**t post oak bet of T240. Simon called. We all know Simon is an aggressive player, but... If I had pushed instead of making the less than pot size bet, there is no way Simon would have had the pot odds to draw to the flush. Actually, he didn't have the pot odds as it was, but like I said we know he's aggressive.

If I PUSH All-In on the turn, I do not believe Simon calls, and I pick up a T330 pot instead of letting him draw the flush and bust me.

I'm supposed to know better.

Feedback?

Especially from Simon: Would you have called a push? Oh, go on, lie to me, make me feel better. I won't believe you anyway.

I'm glad you posted this hand Doc, I was going to do it myself to gauge opinions - thanks for saving me the trouble.

I very nearly raised your bet on the flop, but refrained from doing so because I had very little in the way of other outs aside from another diamond hitting.

The blank on the turn made life difficult. I knew you would bet and a bigger bet would most likely have forced me out (all-in would have been a definite fold). Your bet of 240, whilst not necessarily offering me the correct pot odds (which is all over my head anyway) was small enough in my mind to call and try and spike the diamond.

Had I missed the flush it would have been a straight forward fold on the river, and I would have been down to 1,350 in chips - still very workable.

Question - What do people think of my play in this situation?

Simon

PS - Sorry Doc, two weeks running No way to treat a fellow Spurs fan is it!

Sorry Doc, two weeks running

He, he, Doc, seems like we all have that special one that keeps sending us to the rail.

Might consider hiring Simon as my personal bodyguard when we play in the same tourneys

William,

I seem to have ruffled a few feathers in the past couple of weeks. Profit has me down as a nutter who always has a ten in my hand every time I play a pot, Thomastem is still annoyed that I sucked out against him with my K-K vs his Q-Q and now the good Doc has been tortured twice. I'm sure others are in the queue to get revenge against The Diamond.

Doc labels me as an aggressive player - is psycho more appropriate?

Simon

LOL, excellent. Always keep your foot over the fish's head while he is lying down. And kick him hard if he attempts to stand up.

I can liken the situation to the WWE, where a face (good guy) turns heel (bad guy). I can't quite explain it, but there is some sort of perverse enjoyment being derived from that.

Whilst we may be tentative allies in this forum, we are still sworn enemies in the zoo. Don't forget that!

No we aren't, I am the King and you are a subject. It's quite simple.

Get over yourself. I am a loyal subject of Queen Lori, and will never bow down to you.
