Default Best Home Poker Book

What is the best home poker book? MM gives John Fox's 'How To Hustle Home Poker' a rating of 7 in GT&OT.

I am interested as I have played much more home poker than casino poker though I have played in B & M's and online.

Why would your nomination be the best home poker book?

I think the best home poker book is Irv Roddy's Friday Night Poker: or, Penny-Ante Poker for Millions, a sentimental choice, but I regard it as one of the greats. ca 1962.

The Livingston book, still being published under various titles, has a lot of interesting information about various games. It also gives the thinking on hold 'em from several decades back.

Morehead's book has solid info on the old games like stud high-lo.

I've looked for the Fox home poker booklet for years, but have never come across it. I see it now on auction sites for over $100!

I like Peter Steiner's Thursday Night Poker. It covers most games commonly played in home games, both fixed-limit and pot-limit. Well, it doesn't cover such cerebral games as baseball and follow-the-Queen. My main complaint is that it doesn't cover Omaha/8, which was the second-most popular game in my old home game. The section on high-low stud is good, in my opinion. It may be the best-written and best-organized how-to book I've read, and I've read about a hundred.

I'd forgotten about this book. I agree that it is one of the best.
