Default Bad Beat story...thought I\'d share.

First time poster here, recently I was playing at my local casino 10-20 table.

My Bad beat story happened just a couple days ago on the weekened.

10/20 Game
I was holding 5 and 6 hearts (suited)...I limp in after 1 raise by a player to my right (who often raises - known "loose" player). 7 players limp in the flop
The Flop hits: 5, 5, 6 (rainbow)
The person on my right raised, and I called...I've hit a full house on the flop, tried to slow-play it...about 5 ppl limp in for the turn.
The turn hits: 5
One guy bets, the person raises, and I reraise, and the other people fold..eventually the guy who initiaed the bet goes all-in with his remaining money he had - the raiser and I call.
The River hits: 7
I thought I had won, however, my full house lost...since the guy who went all in at the turn was holding pocket 7s...Hence his 7s full of 6s beat my 6s full of 5s...

Just felt...so bad....

I was in total shock..I had practically all the cards that matched the board...and still LOST

Should I have raised of the flop? Or was my raise during the turn the play?

I read many books and thought the raise on the turn would be better, hence, I called the flop.

Unfortunately, the guy holding pocket 7s would've called me the whole way thru..arrgh.

Fortunately for me, I still ended up on the winnining side of the day..

What was the actual turn card? Your post gives you unbeatable quads.

And, yeah, bad beat stories are not only not interesting, they're not the right way to look at the game.

what can you do? Well not much. Your job when you flop the near nuts and turn the nuts is to collect as many bets as possible. Every now and then someone hits their two outer. It happens. The only difference is that you were already mentaly stacking these chips, well stop that. Until the showdown is complete you have nothing and I've been suprised several times how far back from drawing near dead some people can come.

Now as to cold calling an open raise with 54s in what sounds like early position, that's not all that good. It want's people to come along and you have no guarantee of more callers in the pot.

Welcome to the board. Keep up the posting.
