Default San Diego Cardrooms...

I'm going to be in San Diego next week, and was wondering what are some good card rooms in that area? I'm a broke ass college student, so preferably ones who spread stakes from 2/4-4/8

Well then from one broke-ass college student to another, I can help you out as I live in San Diego. Where are you staying? Personally I have only played at Viejas which is a fair way down I-8, but there are a few others. I like Viejas a lot and the games are quite easy at the 3-6/4-8 limits. They also have $12 entry tourneys twice a day during the week and offer $15 cash back coupons for 3 hours of play. Ocean's 11 has also gotten pretty good reviews from a few people. That's a bit north of San Diego off of I-5. Being a couple months short of 21 I have not yet played there. Sycuan indian Casino has a nice room, but I've never sat down in it and I don't know much about the games. Barona has a brand new cardroom which is small but looks nice. I haven't had a chance to play there yet either. Given how new it is, there might be some really terrible players there. Barona Sycuan and Viejas are all in the same general direction and are your best bets if you'll be downtown or farther south. The last room I've heard of is called Lucky Lady but I don't know much about it.

If you are gong to venture in to North County San Diego you should try Ocean's 11. It is just off of I-5 in Oceanside about 30 miles north of San Diego proper.

It spreads lots of 3/6 hold em all the time and you can often find a 2/4 game as well. My personal experience shows the 4/8 games to be a little wilder and prone to bigger bankroll fluctuation (it is a Kill Pot game).

good luck

Sycuan Casino has a nice 18 table room. Very professionally run and good dealers. Don't ask me how to get there though. It seemed set back in the hills quite a bit.

I believe Viejas has the largest poker room of them all, but then, it's the only one I've been to. I don't know about Ocean's 11, but it looks like it could be a good one to check out. Still, if you're looking for an easier game, Viejas is probably your best bet.

Oceans 11 also has 1-2 tables after 6 if you're real broke.
