Default 50 sit and goes

I've changed my focus to sngs' recently, and have played nothing but (online) for a week, so I could have 50 tournaments recorded. Here are my results:

50 Party $10+$1 SNGs'

1st 6 12%
2nd 9 18%
3rd 8 16% in the money: 23 46%
4th 5 10%
5th 8 16%
6th 9 18%
7th 2 4%
8th 3 6%
9th 0 0%
10th 0 0%

buy ins: $550
Prize money: (6 x 50) + (9 x 30) + (8 x 20) = $730
($730-$550)/$550 = 0.327 roi

Pretty good, I suppose, but not stellar.

Of the 15 times I got HU, I think I only led 4 times (wish I had kept track) and only massively ahead once. Once I screwed myself out of 2nd when I could have allowed a guy to blind out at 3rd. Once the meshugana Party software let an opponent skip his big blind, screwing me out of 3rd. A couple times I had a feeling someone had 2 pair on me, but after getting more than 1/3 in, I threw the rest in and lost, going out in 5th or 6th.

I was willing to draw (small pairs, suited connectors, Ace suited) for the first two rounds. Late, I used a lot of 3x bb open raises, unless my stack was less the 9x the bb. One strategy point seems tricky to me: when does one start grabbing the blinds? I made a rule of thumb for myself: when both blinds together are > 10% of my stack, I start grabbin'. Comments on that?

I have enough in my account to try $30+3. (about $900) What do I need to learn in order to play there effetively? If it takes a lot of study, cool, because sng will be my main form of poker for the forseeable future.

When I play sit n gos it is mainly the $10+1's, After I had a bit of a bankroll I tried the $30+3 and can honestly say that their did not seem to be much difference in skill level, the hardest part is probably you knowing you have 3x as much money on the line. If you try a $30+3, I think you can play the same as the $10+1's, no need to change strategy. I was surprised at the # of players still busting out in the early rounds. Since you have a decent bankroll I would just try 3-5 sitngos and see how you do, if you are not ready yet move back to the $10+1. Good Luck

tighten up with the draws early on(speccialy 10$ sng's). go with your gut- 1/3 is no obligation. definitly move up to the 30's.. good luck
