Not much of value, I just thought it was a funny hand
10-20 at the Mirage.
I just made a flush on the river with 9d7d to win a blind steal from the CO and had to show it down. The very next hand its folded to a poster who checks, I raise with AKo. CO calls, SB calls, BB calls and poster calls. 5 to the flop for 5BBs. Flop: 775r. Checked to me, I bet, CO folds, the other 3 call. 4 to the turn for 7BBs. Turn: Kr. Checked to me, I check. River: 5, final board 775K5. Checked to me, I bet, all three call, the third caller thought for like 30 seconds before finally tossing his chips in. First caller has AQ, second caller has 88, third caller has 99 and my hand is good. 2 of the callers verbally got angry with me for not betting the turn, LOL. |

I like the finale: "Why didn't you TELL me your hand was better than mine? Your tricky play cost me an extra bet and I am very upset with you!"

[/ QUOTE ] That's kind of amusing since 88 and 99 didn't bet their hands on the flop. I mean, if 88 bet and 99 raises, you'd be out of there by now. |

Isn't it the best when people get angry with you for percieved sandbagging? It shows just how bad most mediocre players think and play.

Don't you just love it when people get upset because you didn't play a hand the way they think you should have played it? Is that not the point frequently if you aspire to be a winning player?

hmmmm, can you humor me and explain why you checked on the turn? Cup [/ QUOTE ] I'd venture a guess: that he did it to get up to 3 people to call the river with weaker hands? Yes this is a dangerous play. it gives all 3 opponents - who are drawing live - a chance to catch up. -Scott |

Clarkmeister -
Would you have raised the river had someone bet into you? If so, would you have called a reraise? TIA. KUBowler |

Re: Not much of value, I just thought it was a funny hand
I love the turn check, especially if you are always just calling the river. You're never tested for three bets TARC (turn and river combined) when you're up against trips. If someone has an openender that hits on the river, you lose one BB TARC instead of two or three, which helps tremendously in offsetting the "cost" of them getting a free card. And who knows what kind of hands you might get paid by on the river. And on top of all that, the check's deceptive/fun/rustle-em-up value sits like cream.
