Re: Against a maniac..too weak, too strong, or just right?
Looks about right. Sometimes maniacs do flop sets and have good cards. Laying off on the turn seems like a good idea.
Please tell me he had A5, and you dragged it. Peace, JT |

Re: Against a maniac..too weak, too strong, or just right?
i'd reraise the turn. a true maniac would play the same way with any Q, so i wouldn't give him credit for a better hand at this point.

Re: Against a maniac..too weak, too strong, or just right?
From your discription of the player, I don't understand why you didn't pump the turn and river. The only hand I think you fear is pocket 5s (unless, of course, he's holding the elusive Q3 ).
At the minimum, you should have 3-bet the turn and called a raise. I guess check-calling the river would be fine after this if you're not sure if you're in the lead. Your play was a little weakish for me, especially since you described the MP as a maniac. Had MP been a solid (or even just typical) player, your play would have been warranted. KUBowler |
