Default Where to go...

Being new to this forum, the impression I've gotten is that Borgata and Taj Mahal are the two places everyone goes. Are there other other AC cardrooms? Are they worth going to? I'd also be interested to know about weekday and weekend room rates. 'Sorry if I'm covering highly familiar ground, y'all.

Look at Homer's post below for room rates in both major casinos. Trop also has a room as does bally's although bally's is tiny. Trop is dirty but the games are usually decent and the room is a good size. MG in NJ would have better descriptions of teh games as I haven't been there since the Borgata opened.

Then I would stay away from those places you do not want to run with this crowd.

Are there other other AC cardrooms?

Welcome aboard SpankE. Let me describe the wonderful card rooms that Atlantic City has to offer.

The Taj Mahal. Still the Mecca of poker in Atlantic City. You want to find a Rounders wannabe, go to the Taj. The room has much more traffic than any of the other poker rooms. I hardly play there, however if you like action visit the Taj. The Taj has an adequate frill upstairs for poker players. I enjoy the food, however I like all food.

The Tropicanna poker club.

I play at the Trop during the week. The game spreads the infamous "pink" game played with pink chips. 7.50-15.00. That game has a lot of action. The Trop offers table side food service. If you want to play stud, you might want to play at the Trop. The regular stud players do not play all that well.

The Borgata.

Ok I have to admit for personal reasons I feel a little partial towards the Borgata.

The Borgata has a very nice ambience. Very classy.Cleaner chips however worse dealers The Borgata tends to attract people who have more wealth. Busses do not travel to the Borgata. They spread 3-6

The Borgata now hosts the pot limit game that the Trop used to host. Poster Riverman plays in that game.

The Harrahs

If you ever had the desire to play poker in a closet with glass windows that people could watch you, play there. The place has about 8 tables.

The Ballys poker room. Atlantic Citys only smoking poker room. They have a 3-6 hold em game that just about always goes.

The Sands poker room, just spreads tournaments for now.

As unofficial Borgata spokesperson, I feel compelled to respond.

First, the Garbaj Majal. Make sure you wear plastic gloves when you visit this room because the chips are likely to carry infectious diseases. People there will likely be grumpy, unwashed, and a bit scary. The high point is the dealers, who are very good generally. But in general, this place is a pit. I honestly wonder why anyone plays here.

As for borgata, the room is very nice and clean, and the atmosphere is much better. The action is good because this room attracts wealthier people who are there to have a nice time. Unlike the Taj, they will not throw things of berate you when you win a hand. Furthermore, the guest rooms are terrific and the staff is very helpful. Plus, on the weekend, you can meet me.
