Default HEFAP: Bad Bet ?

Paradise: $1/$2.

I'm 4 off the button w/ KcKs - UTG calls - I raise - only one player calls behind me (LC) - the blinds fold - UTG calls.

3 players to see the FLOP: [ 3c Qh Qd ].

UTG checks - I bet - LC calls - UTG folds.

How do you like my play so far ? Pretty good - right ! ;-D

The TURN: [ 3c Qh Qd ] [ 8s ].

I bet - LC folds - I win.

If I read my HEFAP correctly this was a Bad Bet !

What do you think ??

its a bad bet if he may bluff or bet something weaker. but if he would fold an ace and beat you if he caught it then its certainly right to bet it. plus in those small games people will call with some much junk its hard to justify not charging them a bet. basically it boils down to whether its more likely he will call with junk now or catch something worse than you have and call later. first case you get two bets. second case you get one bet if you check and can lose to an ace if it comes.

although against many players that are scared to ever bet, a check and fold to a bet may be the better play. and if he checks with you, you know you can bet on the end if an ace doesnt fall.
