Default Hollywood Casino in Aurora IL

Has anyone here ever played poker at the Hollywood Casino in Aurora IL? I hear that they have a card room there and was wondering what kind of games they play, limits, waiting list situation, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I have not played there in a while. When I did, they spread 5-10, 10-20, and 20-40 HE, and 1-5 stud. The room (I think) closes on the weekends to make room for table games.

Hey Nut:

Alot of things have changed at Hollywood in the past few months. I used to be a semiregular but have been too busy to stop by and haven't been in since late August. They only have about 7 tables and spread mainly Holdem - 5/10, 10/20, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays 20/40. Sometimes a 15/30 game gets going on Monday nights. They started charging $5 to get into the casino in early August and were going to charge to get into the poker room - something like 30 during the week and 50 on the weekends. They had a pretty high rake (usually $5 if the pot was over 50 which it always was), but were going to lower it to either 2 or 3 once they started charging to get into the room. I guess if you stayed >4 hours you usually could make the admittance fee back on the rake savings. Also, when they were going to start charging they were going to start spreading poker 7 days a week, so the higher limit games (15/30 and 20/40) we thought were going to be played also on the weekends. I'd give em a call to see what the policy is now, since like I said I haven't been in since the start of August. Also, the room used to be open till 6am, but the hours have been cut back to 3:30. They're blaming it on something along the lines of the idiotically high tax rates the casinos have to pay in this great state.

Hope this helps,
justanother fish

It's funny hearing all the people who haven't been there in a while. I used to log about 1200 hours a year in that room and haven't been there once since June. It's just not worth going.

They have 6 tables (rumor has it they MIGHT be going to 9, but I'll believe that when I see it). It's $5 to get on the boat. They charge for parking (no not valet. That's even more), it's a $6 rake and it will cost you a buck every time you order a coke from the cocktail waitress. If that's not bad enough, they don't even have a poker room manager! They got guys from the pit who know nothing about poker making rulings. Their highest limit is 10-20 hold'em with a 20-40 feature game Tue. and Thur. Depending on where you'd be coming from, you might be better off going to Harrah's in East Chicago, IN.

yeah. i haven't been there in about 2 years. and from what i hear (mostly from Kevin J) the place has gone downhill from when i stopped going there.

sadly, it just doesn't compete with Harrah's in East Chicago. which is saying something, since Harrah's ain't such a walk in the park either.

I'd suggest going to Harrah's, or finding a home game. or moving to Vegas.

Default Thanks for the update

I'm in Peoria so Hollywood is the closest casino with poker around here. Guess I'll save my money for Vegas! Thanks for all the input.
