Default Confused about kicker in texas holdthem

I am totally confused about how the kicker works in texas holdthem, like today I had K-6 and my oppont had K-7 we both had 3 of a kind kings on the board and there was a ace on the board, but yet the pot went to him, how come I didnt get to use the ace as a kicker?

you both get to use the ace as a kicker, but remember that you each play five cards, so the second kicker counts. here apparently there were two cards below a 6 on board along with the two kings and an ace, so his KKKA7 beats your KKKA6.

by the way, you are more likely to get a quick response to this type of question on the beginners forum.

You use the best 5 cards out of the 7.
