Default Atlantic City Friday night?

Hi, New to the board (and to the game!). I'll be in AC Friday night looking to play holdem. I've been told that Borgata and Taj are the best card rooms in town, but I'm wondering if I will be able to find a low limit (pref 2-4) game in either casino on a Fri night. Any help? Thanks!

Welcome aboard.

You will have no problem finding a game at either casino.

Thanks MG... I was thinking they may raise the stakes on a wknd night, like they do at the tables. Good to hear.

At the Borgata you may have to wait a bit (usually less than 30 minutes) on Friday nights, but they always have several 2-4 tables running.

Which casino sees the most "novice" players like myself? I'd rather not walk into the room and be immediately overmatched (I'd rather play my way there )

If you can hold your own in any online game at any limit - you won't be overmatched in 2-4 in AC. You have a choice between the Taj and the Borgata. The Taj is a much bigger, more visable room, and as a result, I think there is more clueless action at the lower limits at the Taj. On the other hand, the room at the Borgata is much much much nicer.

Just buy in for $80 or whatever, play tight, have fun, and relax. No matter what, you won't get hurt too bad. If it were up to me, I'd play at the Borgata.

Default Plenty of action at all three Atlantic City poker rooms

With all of the tournaments in town this month all of the poker rooms have had a lot of new faces.

The Trop had 180 people for the $30 buy in last Thursday. The Trop had a few 2-4 games going.

This weekend the Taj will have a lot of players because of the WPT and their big tourney. The Borgatta just started to have satellites for their "big" tournament.

If you read these forums and play half way decent at the 2-4 level and 4-8 level you will no worries.

Enjoy yourself and post a report.

Well, I ended up playing at the Trop (couldn't get anyone to make the treck to Borgata with me) and had a good time. I got a 2-4 HE table with less than a 5 min wait.

Lost some $ - in hindsight, I probably could have played much better if not for the couple martini's I had prior to sitting down and the 4 or 5 drinks while playing. I took a few bad losses, like having my pocket 10s broken on the river by some clown hanging around calling raises with KQo (the board was 2 4 5 7 Q rainbow, in that order). But, I also made a few bad plays myself that added to it.

It was interesting to watch the other players and their styles (outside of my local friendly games, I've only played online) - alot of the types of people I expected were there... the drunken gamblers calling & raising with nothing; the 75 year old rock that only plays QQ or better; and the college kid who feels it is his duty to educate the table on strategy during and after hands, presumable verbatum from the last holdem book he read or last Wednesday's WPT show.

All in all a good time. Just wondering from any AC regulars, is the atmosphere/general player types at the Trop similar to most casinos in AC/Vegas? I pictured a much smaller, smokier room and was impressed at the friendliness and quality of the service. Thanks for any opinions.
