Default Hotel/Motel info for Atlantic City sought

Need a place to say in AC for the WPO at the Taj Mahal and Resorts no longer gives me a free room.

A crappy, but reasonably secure, motel in the $50-75/night range would fit the bill--are there any centralized reservation lines similar to the one they have for the "resort" hotels?

Or, if it'll be a breeze to find a motel on a Wednesday in September, that's would be good to know too.

thanks in advance,
shane

There are some motels on Black Horse Pike that you can probably get for $50-75 a night. I don't know of any centralized reservation systems (I usually search with Expedia or a similar site). Another option is to try to get the poker rate at the Taj ($50 wkdays, $65 wkends -- I believe), Borgata ($100 wkdays, $125 wkends -- I'm sure about this), or Trop (don't know the rates).

Good luck...

Me and my girlfriend stayed at Atlantic Palace Suites on a Tuesday night a couple months ago. It was ridiculously cheap. Something like $50~60. It's next to the Sands (I think).

We checked it out last time we went on a weekend and the price had gone up...a lot.

This is my best discovery in AC, but you can't tell anyone else.

The Irish Inn, located at 164 St. James Place (right off the Boardwalk, about a 10-minute walk from Taj). Phone is 609-344-9063. Rates for a single bed Sun-Thurs is $25. That's right, $25. Weekends and holidays are $30.

Some catches -- no parking (you'd have to park at Taj for $4), no sinks or air conditioning (some rooms have both -- ask for them), no TV or phone, and no bathroom. You can get a bathroom for extra. Bathrooms are community and in the hall, and they do provide towels and soap. You're basically there to crash for a few hours.

It's a quaint place, and I've stayed there three times now. The people are friendly, and it's connected to the Irish Pub downstairs, which offers a Po'Richard lunch special for $1.95. You'd think you were in Vegas!

I actually just secured a room at Atlantic Palace Suites (I think is the name) for $69 plus tax for around $80 or so.

I used this number---800.805.3559--which offers a reservation service for hotels other than casinos. A good resource.

Thanks for all the help.

Do a search on travelocity for Atlantic City and Absecon, all search results have ratings by fellow travelers, I wish I had read them before going to that sh1t hole days inn

Ive stayed here:Comfort Inn 539 ABSECON BLVD Absecon, NJ 08201 (very nice)

At ALL costs, avoidays Inn 224 E WHITEHORSE PKWY Absecon, NJ 08201

As for the Irish Inn, why not just sleep in your car? At least in the car you know its clean, you have air conditioning, cell phone, you have a room with an alarm, you are much closer to the casino........and parking is included
